Hi All,

I am from banglore, and i don't have much technical knowledge on audio, and cables routing. I don't own a home theater currently and i am planning to buy after 2-3 months time. My concern was for the HT wiring as i am currently doing my interiors for my flat. Please help me for the below query.

I am planning for put provision for home theatre cable routing. The problem is that to bring the speaker cables to the backside of my sofa from my TV unit. Room size is 11 * 11. There are beams and ceilings , and hence i couldn't do chipping.I couldn't do a false ceiling around the living room as it is of some disjoint shape . The other option what the interior person told is that, to bring the cables through the electrical circuit from the TV unit, bring it up and take it through the ceiling fan point, and then route it via the false ceiling (False celing design starts from my Fan ceiling point) thus bringing the wires to the backside of my Sofa. Also interior guy was telling me to buy and put speaker cables through the pipe till the TV unit so that at the time of purchase of home theatre , i could easily connect the speakers. My concern was for below things.

a) If i carry the wires through the electrical circuit, will it be a problem. Any quality concerns? If so , is there any way i can pull out the cables through electrical circuit as its the only way told by my interior person(can i use any insulators on the speaker cable while traversing through these electrical wires)
b) Is there a problem, if i cut the speaker wires given my the manufacturer and joint these through the seperate speaker wires that i have wired while doing the interiors. I am seriously doubting the quality if i cut and connect the wires provided by the HT manufacturer.

Hi,

a) A good quality speaker wires will not give any issues, when running along with electric cables.
b) Just use the same set of speakers wires for uniformity, instead of cutting them. Normally the ones given by HT manufacturers are just ok type. so you can buy a better quality one and use them inside conduits. (ones costing around 20/m should be fine I think).

You could also consider placing flat wiring along the wall and then covering it with wooden skirting.

PS Why start two threads on the same subject?

Another option is to use shielded or screened speaker cables. This shielding will minimise the disturbances if run along with electric wiring.

it is better to not to take in electric circuit...to avoid interference and as safe pratice ..u can run in a seperate conduict ..
