I have gone through your problem. No need to purchase new turntable now, as it can deliver satisfactory result to you. First of all please don't connect the speaker out put to phono input. secondly, these Philips players are circuited differently inside. Here, the common connection or ground is the live line. I doubt your record player ground is not same as AVR ground so. What you need to do is in the pick up connection the wires which are coming from cartridge you will see either 3 or 4 wires. 1. right 1. left and other two are ground. disconnect the circuit ground connection with that pick up ground wires. you will see in the pickup wire junction the ground is connected with circuit ground. you need to disconnect that.
