Hi everyone , just joined today as I am looking for a midi / mini hifi system , either seperates or otherwise .
It's been a long time since I bought a music system , about 20 years ago . I just walked into Currys in Inverness and bought the most expensive of everything they had [ which wasn't that much ] as I had money then [ I have very little now ] .
I bought a Marantz cd player , a Techniks amp and a Kenwood tape player and Jamo speakers , it all cost me 600+ which was a lot of money for me then .
None of it ever let me down and everything still works , but I want a smaller version for my lounge . Well I want something better actually , if I can afford it .
I just looked at the specs of the Jamo speakers which are quite big stand on the floor type and I was surprised to learn that they were only 120W as they are big things . They produce quite good sound but distort at about 3/4 volume .
Technology has moved on since I bought my old set , so I would be interested to know what's out there just now .
Any help would be very much appreciated .

Welcome to HFV mate.

What is your budget?

Coming to technology... it has not moved on that much. You can consider a digital setup that's PC based with active speakers. Separates too can be considered.

Do you have a lot of CDs or MP3s? Also, state your budget.
