Dear All

I am new to this space

And I hav this problem:
I bought a 32 inch led 3d tv from sony and they gave me a ps3 in a bundle.
I threw away my old monitor and connected my comp's gfx card to my led via hdmi, connected ps3 as well on hdmi and then the set-top box on hdmi as well. it leaves me with one hdmi port still unused which i wish to use for a nice 5.1 audio experience.

Problem: My room is L-shaped.

2ndly: Confused if i connect the 5.1 to my led - will the comp output be played on the speaker systems? or will it continue to play on my led speakers?

3rdly: have a budget of around 50,000 to about 70,000 (max) for speakers.

What do i do? how to go about it.:(:annoyed:
(have attached a linear drawing of my room arrangement)

You will need an AVR and you will end up using only one HDMI input of the TV, rest everything will be connected to your AVR. Just select the source using the AVR and enjoy your audio-video.

At that budget, you will get good package. Try hifimart for great deals.
AV Receivers
Speaker packages

Apart from them, you can also look at [Denon - Polk Audio] combination, Yamaha packages and many more.

your budget is decent for a good system. You need a AVR + 5.1 speaker system. You will connect all your devices via HDMI to the AVR and then run a single HDMI cable from the AVR to the TV. This will output all your audio on the 5.1 system.

AVR : Marantz / Denon / Onkyo
Speakers : Wharfedale, Boston Acoustics, Polk Audio, Paradigm, Jamo, etc...........

Try to listen to as many systems as possible and then decide. Also bear in mind every speaker will sound different with every AVR.

Dear Koushik, Aakashr,

Thanks for the reply guys! I really hope to make a nice choice for myself.

Requirements for such a system is a good sound quality for a lot of diff genre of music - classical, folk, rock, heavy metal, country etc... and i am pretty certain that i may will have to buy a lot diff set of speakers if i will have to satisfy all kinds of listening needs...

so basically - a decent stuff - that gives a sound clarity as well as voice clarity(when watching movies etc)

given by the links given i have shortlisted these: please be helpful once again and please do let me know if the choice is a decent one.

Speakers: http://http://www.hifimart.com/wharfedale-vardus-300-home-theatre-package-170
AVR: http://http://www.hifimart.com/yamaha-rx-v473-av-receiver-313

also saw a threads on need to 'cool' AVRs, how critical is that.

Thanks.

Try to listen to as many systems as possible and note the observations on a notepad and give them a score. This will make it easy for your 'ears' to decide. One cannot make a decision for you.

Thank you guys!

Really helpful - got the AVR from eBay (Yamaha 810 for little less than 46K
(hope it was a good deal from e-bay)

Now - its speaker audition time!

checked wharfdale and sonodyne - liked both - but the audition was with a pioneer avr - thinking of taking my avr and testing them.

The other thing that is worrying me is - if i will get all the inputs (from my desktop comp via zotac card via hdmi, from the ps3 and the stb) to the led tv via avr.

ps3 and stb should connect, but not sure about the comp(but it should work, shouldn't it)

Go out and audition the speakers!! Try Mordaunt Short, Energy, Wharfedale, Polk Audio, Boston Accoustics etc, and yes carrying your avr for the demos would highly be recommended.

Connect all your sources via HDMI to the AVR, and switch between the inputs when you need it! By the Way which sound card are you using?
