hey guys and gals.. it feels so awesome to have found a forum like this.
My name is Sai krishna ( very much Indian). i am from Hyderabad.

i was searching methods to get a home theatre set up at my place. but wanted to import it. Gues i am almost there

I was told about this webiste borderlinkx. amazing website .. The rates over here in the USA + about 10-15% and voila, u have the stuff delivered to ur home..

I have been researching a lot and also visited a lot of stores here in the USA. but this forum answered almost all of my questions and doubts.

Welcome to the forum and all the best for you HT plans. I'm sure you'll get all the info you want from the forum. That estimate of 15% over the US price for sending stuff to India through Borderlinx seems to be bit too optimistic. The last I checked for electronic products it showed around 40% over the US price. Did you check with them or their online cost estimator? You might want to get that sorted.

As an option if you have the time and patience you could check into one of the group buys going on in this forum and see if there is anything that interests you. From what I've seen the prices on the group buy offer are very close if not same as the prices in the US. And ofcourse you get the warranty as well when you buy from here.

Hola and welcome to HFV Krishna. Gijo is right, landed price is usually more than 30% but it depends on the weight, size and price of the product you are trying to bring.

For Eg: for something light, inexpensive but bulky, you may even pay the cost of the product towards shipping. The customs part is usually small for this type, shipping is the killer. Same applies for heavy & inexpensive.

By searching through the forum, you will find that shipping from US is not always worth the savings it due to 110V, warranty etc.
