Hi Friends,

I am planning to invest in a complete Home theater system for my AV room. Room size is around 10 by 12. I have a ceiling mounted projector and Tata sky connection. also plan to use laptop, Itouch and play movies through DVD's. since i may not have too much time to buy separate components, i thought of HTIB's. i looked at HTIB's from Denon (1312XP), Onkyo (HT-S4505) and Sony (HT-M5).

But after going through some of the posts in this forum, i am getting confused. there are good number of suggestions for not to go for HTIB and to opt for separate player, receivers and speakers.

need your help in coming to a decision. my budget is 40k but can stretch to around 50k. looking to hear from users/experts.

Thanks.

friends, would appreciate if someone who has heard/used these systems could give some review/advice.

thanks

You can also look into Yamaha YHT-298,
Its always better to have Receiver and speaker pack than the HTIB.Denon/Yamaha receiver with speaker packs of Wharfadle / Tannoy / Magnat should come with in ur budget

Thanks. I see you are using Denon 1612. Profx in Bangalore is selling this for 29900/-. which among Denon and Yamaha would you recommend.

denon 1612 at profx a mamber bought someday before at 25.4k....
if budget is 50...please go for separate route.
say 26k avr....12k centre...12k..bookshelf...

buy sub and rear later....this step by step plan will give you much better syetem...
for a 12*10 room 1612 is enough i think..and no need of floorstander..

Mordaunt Short Aviano-2 BS, polk TSi300, Wharfedale 9.2....are some good bookshelf speakers u can opt for......If u decided on Denon as AVR then go for polk or wharfedale......Check Yamaha and Marantz AVR as well......

Denon 1612 is available at Profx within 25-26k. Go for it as its avalaibility is less(almost out of stock).
U can buy tsi200(front) and cs10(center).Don't forget to bargain

based on the inputs given, i visited Profx an hour back. they offered me a package of Denon 1612 along with Focal speaker package (5 speakers and sub) for 59900/-. auditioned it and found the sound and quality very good. is this a good deal although it is slightly over budget. plus a player for 5-6k.

folks - was going through HifiMart and saw the Wharfedale Moviestar 65+ speak package for 28k. by adding an AVR (Denon 1713 or yamaha V473) it works out to 55-56k. so the choice is between this and the offer by Profx (1612 with Focal for 60k). can someone help me to decide which option is the best.

dont go for 5.1 speaker package.
go for a pair of bookshelf now..and a centre.

buy sub and rear later.

this plan to avoid low quality.....

there are wharfedale diamond sereis very nice deals in hifimart...

ok...

i saw bookshelf ranging between 18.5k to 24k in the diamond series. whereas centre is ranging between 10k to 25k. by choosing the lowest, it works out to 28-29k for both. am i doing this right.

what about 1713 or v473. which one do you suggest?

that depends on your acoustic taste.
which sound combination you like.so before biung a demo how yamaha/denon goes with wharfdale.....and is it suiting you...is a must.

Guys, any news on Yamaha 397. I checked yamaha india website but this model is not listed there. I think the one ebay guys qouting (397) is imported & you can hardly rely on it's originality & reliability. Can't say. God knows. Any idea in which budget avr we have audessey eq? Any news on this?

Audessey EQ is not available in Yamaha AVRs. They use proprietary YPAO. Denon 1612 is the lowest model that comes with Audessey MultEQ and automatic speaker setup.

The Diamond series speakers are much better than the ones in the Moviestar package. If you are on a budget, you can even look at the earlier Diamond series speakers (9.2 as against the 10.2). Start with good quality fronts, centre and a sub. You can add the rears at a later stage. Always better to buy into a good quality setup in stages if you do not have the complete budget now.

Best,
APK

friends, i called up Anil from Hifi Mart to get his advice too. of the 3 wharfedale moviestar speaker packages displayed, the 70+ super is the latest model and uses the same technology as the diamond series. the full set is being offered at 35k. I am inclined towards this now along with Denon 1713.
