Hello all
Im looking for an honest opinion before I make a home theater (receiver+5.1 speaker set) purchase.
I will give out as much info as I can, but if something is not clear or missing in your opinion, please ask, and I will gladly add that info
First off, the main future uses of said system will be watching movies & TV, with some PS3 and music thrown in for good measure.
The TV is a 42 inch LG LED (no 3D, but that may come in a year or two).
Most of my input sources are Digital:
Theres a PS3, a media streamer (WD TV LIVE), Digital cable box and a Macbook pro, all currently connected to the TV via HDMI.
So any receiver will need to have a minimum of 4 HDMI inputs, preferably 5-6 in case I add more stuff.
It is also worth noting that I am not a really big audiophile nowhere near, reallyI do know the difference between bass, treble and mid, and I know what I like in terms of audio (I prefer a more bass oriented sound to a high pitched treble), my main music orientation is towards main stream rock/metal, but thats about where my need for knowledge ends, really, so yes, I guess that makes me somewhat of a noob
Other items of note:
My budget isnt very high, I can only go up to about 300-400 for the receiver and another 100-200 for the speaker set.
My wife, whom I dearly love, Hates standing speakersI explained that the sub can not be put anywhere but on the ground, so she relented on that, but I can not make her budge on the front speakers, so the entire set (other than the sub and center) will have to be of the wall mounted variety.
With all this info in mind, what would you say to the following combination:
Receiver Pioneer VSX822-K - Amazon.com: Pioneer VSX-822-K 5.1-Channel Network Ready A/V Receiver: Electronics
Speaker set Pioneer S-HS 100 - Amazon.com: Pioneer 5.1ch speaker system S-HS100: Electronics
The deal Im being offered at the moment would set me back about 500$ for both.
For my needs, is this a good choice? Are there other options you would recommend at this price range?
Many thanks for your help!
