Hi Guys,

I just joined HiFi vision and looks like a very happening group :)

I am looking for a Home theater setup for my hall in a budget of 50k. I previously owned a Yamaha YHT-2910 and had to return it because it had some technical glitch and had hard time to fight with Yamaha. So i will keep that as my last option or may be even not consider it since it doesn't have a Bluetooth.

I have been doing some research for getting as AVR + Speakers and have found one from Denon X520-BT and Pioneer VSX-531. AVR alone takes up like 30k :( and i am not sure if i can find a good set of speakers with the remaining 20k. So please help me out guys.

I stay in Chennai. So any recommendations to check out stores are also welcome :)

Regards,
Gokul

Did you receive refund from Yamaha (or) are they giving replacement?

If 5.1 is what you are looking to build, then consider this.

Pioneer AVR - https://www.hifimart.com/pioneer-vsx-330-av-receiver.html?search=pioneer

Taga Harmony 5.0 speaker - https://www.hifimart.com/taga-harmony-tav-406-v-2-set.html?search=taga

Pioneer AVR doesnt have bluetooth ryt? And what about a sub woofer? how will the one from Taga sound?

Taga is a new brand for me...hearing it for the first time. are these available in shops so that i can check them out?

First advise - if you are serious about HT, never settle for an HTIB.
Second advise - Audition before you finalize. Never settle for an advise from anyone, without hearing it on your own
If you have budget constraints, go for an entry level AV receiver + 2 bookshelf speakers for now which can come within 50k. As you get more funds, you can add more speakers and a subwoofer to make it a 5.1. www.hifimart.com can help you with an overview of what to get at what range

Hi Gokul,

You can look for Taga Harmony speaker system - it should cost between 21.5K to 30K depending on different models.

Taga Harmony TAV-406 - 21,500
https://www.hifimart.com/speakers/speaker-systems/taga-harmony-tav-406-v-2-set.html

Taga Harmony TAV-606 V3 - 25,000
https://www.hifimart.com/speakers/speaker-systems/taga-harmony-tav-606-v3-speaker-package.html

Taga Harmony TAV-606 SE - 30,000
https://www.hifimart.com/speakers/speaker-systems/taga-harmony-tav-606-se-speaker-package.html

These all are 5 speaker packages and contains front Floorstands, so you can begin without any sub-woofer and add it later if you feel requirement.

I have heard "Option 2" and its amazing for its price.

You can find many entry level AVRs within 30K to use with these speakers.
You can also look for pre-owned AVRs in "For Sale by Owner" section and find AVR within 30K budget which would give you better value for your money.
I have put my Pioneer VSX 830 on sale, you can consider this AVR as well:

Pioneer VSX 830 on HiFiMART:
https://www.hifimart.com/electronics/av-receiver/pioneer-vsx-830-av-receiver.html

My sale post:

Hope it helps.

Thanks man. I will never get an HTiB. I am trying to pick the best which i can get in the 50k. Taga speakers which everyone recommends is completely new for me. So let me try to audition it.

Check hifimart for floorstanding as well. If they comes under your budget, it will be a good bet and will compensate for a subwoofer till you procure one.

Unfortunately, you are stuck in a bad place

If you are convinced about not going for HTIBs and choosing separate speakers, you will have to up your budget. Because although Rs 50,000 is not an insubstantial sum of money, in the hifi world, it falls short

As mentioned by lot of other members, AVR is 30k minimum

For a full complement of 5.1, the only brand fitting your budget is Taga
(which I haven't heard, and might be perfectly good - but assuming there is a reason why there isn't any other brand at that price level)

There is always the old model Jamo S426 HCS-3, but it isn't regarded that well by forum members

If you don't find Taga or Jamo up to the mark (or want other options), then the next option (well regarded) is a Pioneer Andrew Jones 5.1 set, which retails for Rs 60k
Pioneer AJ-5235XT (5.1ch Speakers)

Or the entry level Polk set, which is again at same price 60k
https://www.hifitoday.com/polk-audio-fusion-tower-speaker-package/

Which brings your total expense to almost 1 lakh, double of what you are intending to spend

Both these options will deliver good movie watching experience.
(If you wish to listen to music, maybe the Pioneers will be slightly better than the Polks)

Or you could start with two floorstanding speakers first, and then build out your system slowly - the method most people recommend on this forum.
The Mission MX-3 at 25k
Boston Acoustics A360 at 38k
Polk TSX 330 at 30k

When I started to build my setup around 4 years ago, I had no budget. Yes it was almost Zero.

I picked up a used Denon receiver. I had no idea what to look for. All I knew it has to have multiple channels. I hooked up my existing Sony music system speakers and a pre used center channel. I think it all costed me around 20k for denon and center. Used it for a few months and bought a pre used sub woofer. I think it costed me 8k. This was my setup for almost a year. Trust me when I say that this one year taught me all the basics of homethearer, setting up, various technologies, speaker types, my likes, preferences, etc. It basically told me what to look for in a home theater and I used all that to subsequently pick my components.

I would suggest if you are like me, with a small budget, start slow, start small, check out olx, Quikr, etc and get started. No budget is small, there is always something in every price range.

Remember no setup is your final setup, you'll be changing something every few months or years. So it's important to get started and get into this vicious circle of fun and learning.

After going through lot of posts in the forum and doing audition with some speakers, i have made an initial mind that i will get a Pioneer VSX- 531 as my Av receiver and Taga Harmony 606 V.3 as my speaker choice. Will start without sub woofer and later i will add if its really needed ( staying in 3rd floor of my apartment and neighbors are not so good :P )

How does it look guys?

Good choice in your budget.. There aren't many speaker's/ package that you can get in that price..

Sub is defently good.. Add it when your budget allows..
