Hi Experts,

I have a 40 inch Samsung 3D LED and a Airtel HD Box. I have a good collection of DVD movies and is looking for a HTIB that includes a Blu Ray Player. I have a budget 35K (Max Stretch 40K). I was planning to go fo Sony BDV E980 but after reading few feedbacks in the forum i am concerned. Could you please guide me with this. I have a room that measures 15*14*11 which is meant purely for the entertainment.

I am from Bangalore and hence if you also can specify where i have to buy the model, it will be very helpful

Onkyo 3400 may not be best at music playback, but its not bad either. it scores 7 out of 10. Unless you are a audiophile you wont find the system bad at music. May be my personal opinion, i enjoy music in 2.1 rather than a 5.1. Reason unknown. Also, dont forget to audition the system with bunch of songs you frequently listen. This will help you in deciding faster.

Thanks for the response. I will try out this week and get back with my comments. Any suggestions on a Blu Ray Player that can go with this? Also i see in the Home Theatre link provided by Kittu there is a combo Denon AVR1311 + JBL SCS140BK. Is this comparative to 3400?

That was just to give you an example of what types of HTIBs are in market.

I'd recommend you personally go visit the stores , tell your budget and audition all the systems possible , then decide.

You can start a 2 channel setup with an AVR first and later upgrade to 5.1. Step by step.


Or if you like a 5.1 HTIB which moderately sounds decent for music, pick it up.

Trust me no AVR + Speakers will match to a Stereo/Integrated amp + speakers combo when it comes to music unless you are ready to spend more money.

Go for HTIB in Onkyo its better in sound and also not too expensive go and audition the onkyo and take it one dont think too much. Am using onkyo 6200 i buy before 1 and half year its good and i love it.

Purchased the Onkyo HTS3400. Few queries installtion is part of the package or is it outside? The Onkyo people claim that they will only do a Demo and calibiration!! I am wondering how can they even calibarate without keeping the speakers in the right place ?? Do you know where i can get some speaker wall mounts in Bangalore? I tried the Music Ranch and they don't have it. I know its available in jenefas at chennai, but any other place.
