Home Theatre sound Recommendations for TCL 55P8 TV

Please recommend a home theatre setup for my TCL 55P8 4K tv.

Budget around 5-10k.

Please clarify what do you mean by home theatre.. just a normal sound bar or a proper 5.1 surround sound?.

You can only get a sound bar for this budget.. any 5.1 surround for this budget will be pathetic..

I am looking for a decent 5.1 setup. I think a soundbar won’t provide a appreciable sound effect.

what would you suggest if I were willing to spend more?

You can try below Home theater in box solutions.. which have AV receiver and the speakers (with subwoofer).

Yamaha YHT-1840 - Rs.28000
Pioneer HTP-076 - Rs.42000
Onkyo HT-S3910 - Rs.42000

These should give you satisfying decent sound.. Yamaha drawback is it just supports basic Dolby and DTS sound.. other two supports all latest sound and picture formats like Dolby Atmos and DTSX.. Dolby vision etc..

That is a little above my budget.

anything in 15k range?

If you are very short on budget then check out Samsung HT-J5100K/XS

It shows 12k in Croma.. you get Bluray player instead of AV receiver.. it supports Dolby and dts hd formats.. it does not have wifi or blutooth.. so just connect this system with hdmi (ARC) or optical cable from TV to enjoy the sound..

Just to warn you. I don't know how this will sound.. Going by the brand name samsung I trust it should sound decent.. But I am sure above products that I suggested earlier should definitely sound much better.. if Croma is nearby just visit and try to have a demo if possible..

I am looking to buy online and unfortunately chroma doesn’t deliver to my location in Noida. Can’t find this product anywhere else.

any idea about this system. It’s from Sony.

HTS20R is okayish with downside being the surround sound is little less effective, HTRT3 is better
Had auditioned both at Reliance Digital.

I forgot to ask the most important question.

it must be compatible with tcl 55” P8 4K tv.

i don’t want to end up buying a 5.1 system and later find out my tv doesn’t support it.

i assume all modern 4K tvs bought in the past year should support it?

I see that Sony HT-RT3 has HDMI ARC and also optical input.. There were no mention of audio output port details in TCL website for your tv... I took this pic from Amazon review of TCL 55P8 tv.. please check and confirm if this port details are same in your tv.. If yes then your tv has both HDMI ARC and optical port for audio passthrough.. so you should not have any issues.. Screenshot_20200621-234125__01.jpg

@Kecha_R

My tv has Arc as well as optical port.

I'll take a look at ht-rt3. So, you think it's a decent setup for me at the price?

If you ask me, I would personally suggest to go for atleast Yamaha YHT-1840 if you can extent your budget to 28k.. as the sound from it will be superior from these cheap 5.1 system from sony/samsung etc since it has a AV receiver to process the sound.. But if you are dead locked on the budget then this sony HT-RT3 should be fine.. you also have opinion from @vinyasmusic who confirmed it was good..

Hi, I have a caution for you. Any decent HT system will cost you upwards of 60k atleast even if you go with the basic AVR and 5.1 combo. Many people have done the mistake of buying at a low budget quickly realizing that it doesn't do justice to bigger TVs or in general don't have the power to immerse you in the movie scenes. I also made the mistake of buying a basic Onkyo AVR and sold off within 3 months.

Without any disrespect to the suggestions given, I strongly suggest you to wait for some time and increase your budget.

If you cannot increase your budget in the near future or wait for any longer pl consider buying the Pioneer Amp A10 + Speaker BS22 combo at 30k available at hifimart. Trust me a quality stereo system will sound a lot better than an anemic HT system.

I may have confused you a bit but many are happier with a simple quality stereo system even for movies.

You decide what suits you best and keep us updated. Cheers

Any alternative around 15k ?
That's the range I am looking for. (Not op)

@sgautam
im considering buying this.

Any idea what are connectivity options via TV. does it have HDMI arc so I can control it via tv remote and so that it goes into standby mode when I switch off the tv?

Budget around 5-10k.
You can consider a Logitech Z625 2.1.
If you are a bass lover, it'll keep you happy.

Other options are powered bookshelf speakers such as Edifier 1280db, Edifier 1700T etc. These don't give the same effect as a home theater but they do have room filling audio and are better than stock TV speakers. Can also be used for casual stereo music.
Another offering by F&D is its R60BT bookshelf speaker. Do give a listen before finalizing any of these.
