Hi Friends,

I am looking good Home Theatre 5.1 Systems in the budget of INR 30K to 40K(slightly negotiable).

I am currently thinking of going for HTiBs and inclined towards Yamaha and Denon brands. Please suggest if I my thought is correct or not. I am totally novice to Home Theatres and sound systems etc. So not aware of the features I should be looking for in AVR etc. Kindly suggest

I wish to pair this up with Samsung Plasma F5500(yet to buy).

Regards,
Leela Krishna

Option 1: Purchase HTiB such as Denon SYS 5.1, Yamaha -YHT 299.

Option 2: Entry level AVR + 5.1 speaker system

Option 3: Mid-level AVR + Pair of bookshelves for time being and you can add rest of the components later when your budget permits.

Can I safely assume Denon & Yamaha currently have best HTiBs compared to Onkyo/Pioneer? With yamaha I know YHT 299 is the latest. I have experienced Denon 1312xp at reliance digital quoted at around 33K few months back. Is there anything that's better/newer with Denon? Does these HTiBs come with entry level AVRs? Can I change the speakers later if I wish to?

Any good stores in Hyderabad to exprience these sysetms personally?

Check out Denon X500 which is usually paired with Denon Sys 5.1 speakers. I have heard this system and found it at par with YHT 299 and in some instances better than YHT. It retails for around 35-36K in Pune.

I suggest you to go for second option. I have recently purchased one system for myself. Here's the price break up:

Denon AVR-X500: 22,000 (2 years warranty)

Boston acoustics soundware XS: 5.1-23500

Audition these speakers and you'll be fascinated by its performance. Here's the list of authorized dealers.

Thanks. I am assuming this combination beats "Yamaha YHT 299" and "Denon X500 + Denon SYS 5.1" in features and output? Any idea if profx would audition this combination in Hyd?

Not sure about Profx but Sound N Vision had it last time when I paid a visit to them. This combination is any day better than HTiBs in SQ, features wise X-500 is pretty basic yet serves the purpose. If you're looking for an AVR with automated room correction feature, Yamaha RX-V375 should be your pick at this price point. Denon X1000 has Audyssey but that comes at a price of around 30K.

What is audyssey? sorry if that sounds like a dumb question...do u think Denon X1000 is better compared to Yamaha RX-V375?

Hi lalli Krishna

Audyssey is an automated feature which helps to setup the levels and tonal quality of speakers in a room. All you need to do is connect the speakers and AVR. Start the feature in the room hopefully which should be silent enough for the system to make the most accurate calculations. Most Home Theatre users decide to use this feature for quick and painless setup.

I use a Marantz NR 1402 + Boston Acoustics Soundware XS 5.1 speakers and did the setup manually as I like to tweak my sound quality to the maximum extent. The performance is awesome...better than Bose in terms of sound quality and value for money.

The Marantz NR 1402 is no more available, you can try and see if the NR 1403 is available, else the NR 1504 is the latest model with AirPlay and this is expensive...depending on your budget, you can take a call.

The RX V 375 is a good receiver and has done quite well in the Home Theatre market. It would pair up well with the Bostons.

The Denon X 1000 is good but I would prefer the Marantz as you have the advantage to manually calibrate sound quality through their 9 band equaliser for each channel..this is something not available in most AVRs today.

End of the day it all depends on your budget and what appeals to you in performance.

Krishna, try auditioning this combo and I am sure you'll love it. Regarding price, I have negotiated with most of the dealers in Hyderabad but couldn't get the best price from them. So, I've bought Soundware XS-5.1 from HiFi Mart and AVR from a Mumbai based dealer. I shall give you the contact details of that dealer if you need.

Thanks Bharadwaj. I shall audition this combo. I am inclining towards X1000 and Soundware XS-5.1. Will get in touch with you about the contact details of the dealer.

X-1000 is a good AVR, but please bear in your mind that this AVR alone would cost you 30-33K. But if you can stretch your budget to 50-55K, you can think of it.

Hi Bharadwaj,

Thanks for posting such a needed, useful information for novice people like me,

I am also planning to buy my first Home theater system from Hyderabad, wanted to buy little better than entry level system or combo, had been keenly following the discussion.

It would be very useful for me if you could share the mumbai dealer address and the rest of things how u could get them and price, complete the installation, up to ready to use stage.

My sincere thanks to you and forum in advance
