My bro has finished his new house and can spare much for extra renovation and furnishing.
This is for his "room" which is his work room+entertainment room, not the "living room".

Here is what he already has
1) Sony 55" TV KDL 900A with 4 hdmi ports
2) PS3 and Xbox 360 and Wii All consoles have 1 HDMI port
3) PC with 2xGTX 780ti GPU SLI (no monitor as TV is to be his monitor) Both the GPU has a HDMI port

What he needs to buy
1)A home theatre box thing that will run simultaneously with tv,pc and consoles
2) Speakers to be set up around the room

Before he pays another huge sum for setting up his home theater/gaming/productivity room, he asked for my advice, but i am pretty clueless about home theatre

The query--

1) Can the TV, PS3,XBOX360 and Tata Sky HD Set top Box's Sound system all be integrated into one?
For eg. He is working on his spreadsheet listening to mp3s from his PC, then he wants to check the TV news channels, and then play games on PS3. He wants his "yet to be purchased" speakers to be able to give 5.1 or 7.1 surround sound from his PC,PS3 and while watching vh1 music channels through tata sky settop box.

a) Does he have to change wires for each different component?
b) Will the surround sound effect come from his PC motherboard's integrated sound card or his Home Theater Box ? Which is better for sound output, PC's dedicated sound card or Home Theater Box or sound system's sound card (some speakers have sound cards inside them i heard)
c) Is it worth it to get a new dedicated PCi-e sound card? What about external sound cards? Will the PC sound card affect his PS3 gaming and vh1 tv channels
d) Will there be a need for extra wires like analog /digital blah blah wires, i have no idea about them...

In short what will be the ideal Home theater speaker system which can allow good surround sound output when playing on PS3, PC games, Watching TV from tata Sky and watching Blue Ray movies from Home Theater box(which i assume has a BD player)

Hello and welcome to HFV.
I have given my suggestions inline. Hope it helps.

HTIB includes speakers.
Or you must be referring to AVR+ Speakers

Yes. The AVR does the job of accepting inputs from various sources and play video on a single display and also play surround sound as per the audio input.

No. Not at all.

b) Will the surround sound effect come from his PC motherboard's integrated sound card or his Home Theater Box ? Which is better for sound output, PC's dedicated sound card or Home Theater Box or sound system's sound card (some speakers have sound cards inside them i heard)

The card you have is video card. It can only stream surround sound digitally along with video on HDMI. The decoding is done by the AVR in your case.

c) Is it worth it to get a new dedicated PCi-e sound card? What about external sound cards? Will the PC sound card affect his PS3 gaming and vh1 tv channels

You don't need sound card if you have AVR unless you want to have a better quality output esp. for music.

d) Will there be a need for extra wires like analog /digital blah blah wires, i have no idea about them...

If it is HTiB, you most likely don't need any extra wires except HDMI cables.

Budget?

All you need is a decent AVR with atleast 5 HDMI inputs, and one out that will go to the TV.
Each AVR input can be configured so that the signal can change just by the press of a button.

AVR can be a part of an HTiB like onkyo S-3500 or you can purchase everything seperately .... thats you to you and your budget.

For PC get a gpu like GT440 (not much expensive 4-5K) and use HDMI to bitstream the audio to AVR, this way you will get 5.1/7.1 audio while gaming or playing any movie on PC. For front end XBMC is recommended to create a visual library for your movies

If PC is used for 2 channel music yes then you can go for a dedicated sound card like
ASUS Xonar

Sorry for late reply,
Budget is Rs40k to 50k for the speakers and the AVR Home theatre Box thing

And ya thanks for your repliess :)

A good AVR like Marantz NR-1504 along with Boston Acoustics SoundWare XS 5.1 will do the needful which will be costing around 50k at HIFIMART.
