Hi,

Looking for feedback/comments on Honda Jazz - Reviews have been good but dont see too many on the road. Any comments from FM/owners in terms of experience/ mileage/ comfort/ driveability etc. How would you compare it with Swift Dzire.

for all info on cars, search in team-bhp or bsmotoring forums

Agree with 'team-bhp'. A wealth of real world information out there. You can search and easily find many Honda Jazz ownership experiences on this forum. HFV may not be the best place to get 'auto' advise!

Thx. Thot General Lounge is for non AV queries. Will check out the recommended sites. But in case there any Jazz owners among FM, would be happy to have their comments,

As all have suggested Tbhp is best place to get actual reviews

What I have read about the car is that its low end torque delivery is very poor. So driving in city traffic could be difficult. Ofcourse this can be subjective. So best way is to have a proper TD of the car

Apart from that, there are no quality issues with the car and the boot is decent enough for a hatchback and has good FE thanks to the jewel of an engine by Honda

I have not owned both the Jazz and the Swift (petrol & diesel), but I have used them both extensively. The following are my opinions:

Honda:

+Fantastic engine
+Humungous interiors (for a hatchback)
+Good quality interiors
+Ride quality better than the Swift
+Handling marginally better than the Swift
-Expensive spares

Swift:

+Cheaper to maintain than the Jazz
+Decent ride & handling
+Wider service network
-Cheap interiors
-Petrol engine is very good but not a match for the Honda
-Gets 'old' pretty fast

+! to that

Also, you tend to see very few Jazz variants on the roads because of the cost, if you're off to a Honda showroom with a slightly upwardly flexible budget, you'd probably buy the City instead of the Jazz. The Jazz is priced as a premium hatch on a City platform. Not too many Indians are likely to buy a hatch at that price point. Having driven both, thought the City has a better feel to it. My opinion though!!

Unlike popular perception Jazz is priced at 6.1 lac, City at 8.3 (ex insurance+ registration). So its actually priced similar to swift but more features at price point (ABS air bag etc).

I have the Jazz for 3 months now the only think negative is when visiting a petrol bunk.
You can get around 12 to 14 in a city like bangalore in peak hours with AC.In the high way i got around 21 from bangalore to chennai and 18.7 on the return trip all with AC(return trip lower due to elevation of bangalore).

Being a honda the ground clearance is a bit low.

I did compare it the swift and swift dzire, when you enter these cars it feels cramped, the jazz has much more space inside and it feels airy. The swift dzire 2012 also has a small boot compared to the jazz. Also i am not a fan of beige interiors that you get in the dzire.

Only cars like the tata manza, honda city, nissan sunny have more space on the inside.Cars that felt cramped compared to jazz are Ford fiesta/figo , micra/pulse, Hyundai i20/verna , VW polo/vento , Skoda rapid/fabia , Fiat linea/punto , toyota etios liva.

Yes it does have more space then the vento particularity the leg room.

Well unlike the other hondas such as the civic or city this one has a firmer suspension.(which is a good thing it doesn't bottom out like those two)
The ride is good, pick up is decent, inline with a petrol swift, but the power usually starts around 2000+RPM.

Jazz internationally is priced more then the city,in M.E.Asian and South East Asian countries where both are sold.
Its only in india have they priced it lower then the city, due to the indian people mentality.

The Jazz started on a negative note in India. It was pushed as a premium hatchback and was very costly initially. No one wanted to spend 800k on a hatchback when cheaper options were available. Then came Maruti Swift and then SX/Dzire. All three spelt doom for Jazz.

Honda reduced the prices but by then petrol prices had jumped much higher. Diesel became the buzz word. The negative outlook on Jazz did not change and people still thought that it was expesive (even though otherwise).

Thing about Jazz is that its only plus is a superb engine. Otherwise it does not "jazz" you.

Its big plus is the space it offers,it has much much more space then any other hatch back in india and sedans costing less then 10lakh(except nissan sunny, tata manza, honda city).

some reasons to strongly consider Jazz

1. Best suspension in this segment and slightly higher.
2. comfortable ride
3. Solid noise cancellation, this is very important in long drives and traffic alike, and is one of the most overlooked aspect.
4. IVTEC engine that purss.
5. quality, quality, quality

cons -
as with all hondas, spares are wee bit expensive. so if you by habit are prone to dents and broken rear lights, then you may want t o reconsider, if you are a safe driver, then it's all good.

U see very few ard cause honda's production of jazz is currently on hold and they aint even taking booking last i checked.
Besides that, love the car, nothing to really complain abt apart from ground clearance.

They are taking bookings ,except for the Jazz base model. Its the same with the Honda City Corporate edition no bookings.

They are taking bookings. Unless they have on stocks they are saying around 1-2 month delivery time. It seems production was affected by floods in Thailand, but am surprised why it has not picked up yet - Being priced at Swift levels, I would think these should be quite competitive but am not sure what Hondas strategy is.

Also any thots on Honda City vs Vento ?
