Nanadac & kdlsrinu,

Pls contact Mr. G.K. Prahllad (Business Head) of Cinebels Bangalore.... he will be the best person to help you out, as they (Cinebels) have their own brand of speaker Switches (Monee)

Its pretty simple. You need a simple A/B switch (switch for two positions and two sockets for a pair of wire from each amplifier/AVR and third socket for speaker wires) and some extra good quality audio cable. connect the amplifier cables to the two sockets and connect third socket to speakers. use switch to switch between speakers.

The switch needs to be of good quality and built for audio purposes. Cable again need to be of good quality. If you compromise with quality the audio quality will suffer SUBSTANTIALLY.

all the best. Do lets us know how u finally achieved it. :)

if i remember correctly, venkatcr had fashioned one with gold plated connectors et al,all for a group buy on the forum.this was a while ago.looked damn good, and nearly bought one myself.dunno if they're still available tho.cheers

I made switch myself with electric board, 4 two way switches & speaker wire.
It cost me Rs.50 only & working perfectly even while writing this post.

hi spiro - have you done some A/B with and without the switch that it doesn't add to or rob the sound without it being in the path?

I still fabricate these switches. Please send me a PM if you are interested.

Cheers

Please most more details or a link on the said switch. Some reviews would help too..Thanks.

Otherwise a better solution is to take the front pre outs of the receiver and put them into a line level input of your integrated amp. Any kind of switcher in between will degrade audio quality. If you use the above method, you definitely won't lose audio quality and infact you might gain some.

+1, it works if your AVR has analog inputs for each channel. I have done this and works well for me. Here is what I have done:

My Front Speakers are connected to my Stereo Amp. I then connected the Front Analog Out from my Surround Sound Processor (AVR in your case?) to AUX input on my Stereo PreAmp. When I watch a movie, I change the source selector to AUX and when I am listening to 2 channel music, I leave it at CD and turn off the Sound Processor.

Useful tip: I got this tip from ashishkesarwani(via phone) which was to keep the volume on my Stereo-pre at 12 o clock position while running your Room Eqs like Audessey, EmoQ etc(if you decide to use it, that is).

If your preamp has a "External Processor" or a "Bypass" option, using this will disable your volume control on the pre. You can control volume just with the AVR.

Though I did not do A/B test ,I remember sound before & after I started using switch.I used same supra cable within the switch.

Thats indeed one of the simplest means of doing so. But you would have to keep both the systems on always. I assume nandac wants to use them separately and does not want to adopt this particular idea.

In your idea IMO the output from the AVR will be processed by the Integ Amp invariably. What effect will it have on the sound quality of the movies (he is probably using AVR for movies) is interesting!! Do correct me if I am wrong. ;)

Did you mean analog outputs?
I don't know why AVRs do not have pre-amp outs? Just adding fl/ fr pre-amp out will add tremendous value to their AVR for people who use stereo amp for music.

Hello, I had this problem as I had a AVR & a Stereo receiver which I wanted to hook up for 1 pair of speakers. I tried all the help in the DIY section here & the DIY project suggested was costing me 1500+ (parts with good quality). However the drilling/cutting/wiring was too much to make the product be presentable in the rack.

So I found this (TEC TC-616 6-Way Stereo Amplifier/Speaker Comparator) on eBay & bought it which cost incurred was around 3.6k. I have hooked this up with my multi amp & a pair a speakers ... they are fantastic & DAMN sturdy. Buy it thru eBay it's cheaper & the link to the eBay seller of this product is provided below.

If you don't mind spending another 2k extra, then this is the option.

One more thing I want to tell you is that this product work either ways.
- Multiple Amps/Receivers to 1 set of speakers.
- Multiple Speakers to a single Amp/Receiver.
