How AI-generated music is shaking up the industry and why artists are wary

yeah maybe they expand their scope and create rather than mixing existing stuff...now the machine will create it the way you want it.

we are always afraid of new..but maybe something new will come out of it ?

We were busy criticizing autotune but this is at a different level altogether.

The AI generated media and arts is a very low hanging fruit so the market will get flooded with all sorts of such content very soon. They will be worse than the ai driven content that you see on mainstream OTT platforms these days. They all look and feel the same. Just different actors and slightly different locations. Eventually people will get fed up with all this nonsense. Our genes have evolved millions of years to survive all kind of onslaughts. To maintain mental sanity we ourselves will evolve to cut out much of these kind of crap.

Arts born out of human spontaneity and creativity is a class apart. Especially at the higher end of the market where people can easily see or hear the difference. The lower end of the market will get flooded with a lot of ai generated stuff eventually.

I think the world will eventually change a lot to accommodate all sorts of arts. Eventually markets will evolve for all sorts of creativity. Each of these markets shut out the other or will carefully screen for its own survival. Consumers will also screen consciously to preserve mental health and survival. I already see a lot of that in the west. There are a lot of people who support real artists and real stuff and screen out mass generated stuff from their life. Just imagine a world where a prompt engineer is the star musician !

Really creative people have the innate capability to accommodate ai into their workflow and then evolve the result to really creative heights that a prompt engineer will never be able to go.

(ai workflow + creative genius) will outperform (ai worfkflow + prompt engineer) !

Also, how will you get a prompt engineer to do a concert ? So the prompt engineer's value in the market will always be lower. But he will probably create a niche just like a DJ does these days.

I don't know if I can recognise a given piece of music as ai generated or not but for sure i will be able to say this sounds totally bad/ unimaginative/plastic to my ears. If ai can figure out a way to create melodies and arrangements like bohemian raphsody or stairway to heaven or cleaning windows or sundari kannal oru seidhi or in aakhon ki masti, I would be worried.
