I was trying to configure HP MCE remote (bought from ebay.com), with VLC, Winamp and FOOBAR 2000.

In case of VLC there was a plug-in available in the web and it did the work.

In case of winamp there was some information about enabling the global hot keys and enabling default multimedia key support. But when I tried to enable default multimedia key support, it throws an error "Hotkey Registration failed - Could not register the following hot keys - Volumeup,Volumedown,Forward,Rewind". Inspite of the error all functions work through remote.

For FOOBAR, there was some reference about evenghost, but could not find anything concrete.

How to configure HP MCE Remote to control FOOBAR?

you an go to Preference from File menu and there go to Keyboard Shortcuts. The top list shows keyboard shortcuts already mapped. Click on Add below it and select an action like (Start / Stop, etc) from the list below. Click the mouse on the Key textbox at the bottom and press the relevant remote button you want to associate. You will see that Foobar is automatically detecting the keyboard key combination corresponding to the remote key press. Repeat for other functions. Click Apply and all set.

I have set Play / pause, stop, exit, next plalisy and previous playlist with MCE remote

No luck. When I press the key in remote button, it does not fill the box with any values and remains empty. However it recognizes any key stroke from the keyboard.

I could do the configuration as told by @haisaikat. I dont know why it did not work on the first attempt, after restart of foobar in second attempt it worked without any hassle.

@ukjeyaraj, its good that this worked, frankly in first atempt it did not even work for me, had thought it to be my own problem only :) are you starting foobar as shell or starting it at startup with explorer? shutdown of HTPC also has to be then a manual process, unless you have configured any tweak for that as well.

I have started using foobar recently. Right now its started as shell only. I dont intend use this HTPC/foobar for listening music. I use SBT->SONY-TA-F5A->DIY-FS for music. I was using the remote only with XBMC. One of the login in HTPC is configured to directly load XBMC.

I just thought of configuring the remote with other apps.
