Hello guys...i got LG JAZZ full hd LCD hdtv..!! i got USB port which is enabled to play divx files..the only thing is that it is not capable to play HD divx files..i heard about few LG hacks..i tried everything..no use..howevr i even saw over the internet that LG JAZZ have got latest firmware version that is 5.0 or something..so i would like to know that will it be safe to downgrade the version where i can enable divx HD..will it cause any harm to my TV? and i would like to know how to downgrade to a particular version...

any help appreciated thank you !!

Sir
why you are trying all this risky jugaad-banti on your TV? Even IF it is possible and IF it does enable you to play HD DivX files off the USB drive, you will definitely encounter issues with the sound going out of sync. If it causes harm to your TV i.e. if your TV gets bricked, then the warranty will not cover it. The TV will become useless.
So do one thing.... go in for an HD media player, which can be had for as less as 4000 INR. That will give you peace of mind, and also play almost any movie file format you throw at it.

umm..i guess you are right..but i am not working guy..just a student..!! so i have to depend on my dad to buy all such things..and i get restless as i cant wait for HD content on my HDTV..

You want to 'downgrade' your firmware? I don't understand why one would want to move backwards? :):)

Cheers

Venkat sir, Downgrading is quiet common in gadgets like Playstation (PS3,PSP) ,iphoneswhere newer firmware ( which may be onboard while purchasing) mean Some better features but limited functiobnality in some aspects ( Read - Reduced/No support of legacy games and software, possibality of direct jailbreak is reduced, certain formats support which is more "pirate" friendly is removed.Example is one geneartion of PS3 was able to play PS2 games , this support was removed in subsequent models

Members - Correct me if I am wrong

akshay.. what you are looking for is fine.. however those hacks and mods are only for UK models and that too older series.. and now with the firmware updated those settings have been removed from the service menu to enable hd.. i have a jazz theatre 42.. and even if you are able to crack it and hack it..it will not play dts or any other hd audio and you will end up only playing videos with stereo sound...

second the usb of lg jazz is kinda useless and there are no settings in the mode not even brightness..

so try save some money and get the decent media player for 2-3k or connect you cpu or laptop to the tv via vga /hdmi and you will be good..

else if you have a dvi on your system,.. get a hdmi-dvi cord and you are all set.. and it will be lot fruitful to use system as usb on tv has very limited capacity.

ok i do have both dvi and 3hdmi ports with rgb on my hdtv...but only thing is my latop have just S-video output as well as RGB...no HDMI port in my laptop so anyway..which can transform HD signals through RGB monitor..i am sure somehow there might be tricks..!!

rgb ???? tv does not have dvi.. its has a vga...

also laptop have rgb ??? what model is it ????

it should have a 15 pin female vga (blue) connector...

ok a bit confused in it...i have that blue colored 15 pin wire which i use to connect laptop to HDTV..but does that transfer HD content if used on laptop ? like videos which are of HD format

It will but PQ will degrade little as there will be conversion of digital signal to analoge & again in TV.
