There does not appear to be a firmware update to region free Philips BDP's for BD's. There is a post http://www.hifivision.com/blu-ray-d...87-philips-bd2900-region-free-8-5k-worth.html on this forum by a FM regarding a dealer who was offering a hardware modded version.

The problem is that he has already bought the Player. Now what is the best way to make it region free? using a mod kit? if then from where we can get? is there any one in Bangalore who can do this?

Why don't you contact the FM in the above thread, get the dealer info' and see if the dealer is willing to H/W mod the already purchased BDP?

" No Country for Old Men"- The back cover says "Region A". But I could playback successfully on my BDP switched between Region A, Region B and Region C

But Lord of the rings -Region B is confirmed locked one.. wondering whether something is missing here

Check this out: No Country for Old Men Blu-ray

I could also play back this movie when I changed the region of my BDP to "B". Other region A locked movies such as "Reservoir Dogs", "Kingdom of Heaven", "Atlas Shrugged", "Source Code", etc. would not play.

So it is a definitely a mistake on the back cover of No Country for Old Men.

I have Terminator 2 and one another BD which says region A, but plays well when I set my BDP(region free Toshiba bdx3200) to either region A or B. But LOTR is a confirmed region B as it plays only when I set my BDP to region B

For excellent sound that won't break the bank, the 5 Star Award Winning Wharfedale Diamond 12.1 Bookshelf Speakers is the one to consider!
