Hi,

For past couple of weeks, I am facing frequent voltage fluctuation which my stabilizer is managing by regular tripping. However this is leaving me in a desperate situation, whenever I start a movie. I was thinking whether I could use an online inverter dedicated for my HT, so that I can overcome this issue. The plan is to buy an inverter, keep it charged and run from it whenever I want to watch a movie.

My setup is as below
Onkyo reciever, Onkyo towers + polk bookshelf/center, sub, Acer projector, Pioneer BR player, xbox 360, Asus media player. Since it may be an overkill, I may use xbox and sub directly to mains
I also have 2 APC UPS now, one connected to PJ and one to receiver, which hardly gives me 20 mins. I already have a 1KVA home UPS, which is a solar non-sine wave model, and will not bear the HT load along with other household load.

Has anyone done anything similar? If yes
- What is the minimum KVA which I may need to chose?
- Budget?
- Can I utilize present UPSs anywhere?
- Any different solution for this issue?
- Can I keep an inverter in a closed HT, with minimal air circulation ?

Thanks

Kerela is that bad, and I thought UP was the only state ...lol. Well I have 2 KVA Microtech Online UPS, I purchased with my HT itself as I knew I would run in to a similar situation you are currently. Frequent Power cuts and voltage problem. Instead of connecting so many UPS to different devices get one 2-3KVA online and be done with it.

I have a 1.5 KVA square wave inverter connected to the entire house. The online UPS is connected to the inverter, and I only switch it on when I want to watch a movie. I have not run in to a single issue in this setup..... Any fluctuations or voltage drop all is smoothly taken care of by my Online UPS. When power is out or comes back in the switch over lag (by the inverter) also is perfectly taken care of by the UPS.

I don't even realize if there was any voltage drop or fluctuation. Below is what I have. At that time some 3 years back, I paid 20K for the UPS and 6 72ah batteries, which was a very good deal if you ask me for a 2 KVA online UPS with batteries.
