HTPC Configuration: Pls. suggest

Also, configuration i could collect with your help
1. AMD 2.8Ghz Dual Core Processor (2750/-)
2. Asus P8H61-M series LX - (3048/-)
...

Also have I missed out factoring out anything?

The motherboard will work only with Intel processors (LGA1555 socket). The AMD processor will need a different motherboard.

You've left out the graphics card from this list :)

About the cabinet fans and SMPS, the micro-ATX cabinets that come with an SMPS usually have very inefficient and noisy SMPS installed. They usually do not come with cabinet fans.

The cabinet that I mentioned (CM Elite 360) does not come with an SMPS. It comes with a 120mm Cabinet fan that's quite silent. I use this cabinet with an i3 2100 based build in my office and the single fan cools the system (now placed vertically) well enough. You have provision for another 120mm fan and an 80mm fan (which I'd recommend if you're using the cabinet in horizontal mode).

2. Asus P8H61-M series LX - (3048/-)
3. 4GB CORSAIR PC3-10600 (1333 MHz) DDR3 - (1249/-)
4. HD - 250GB Seagate - 4000/-
5. EDUP USB wifi adapter 150MB - 700/-
6. PC remote (keeping 1000/- approx)
7. Corsair 500W Builder Series CX500 80 Plus - (3500/-)
8. Cabinet (keeping 2000/- approx)
9. Asus Xonar DX2 10000/- -

Total cost: 28247/- with 10000/- going for the Xonar alone :(

Any suggestion for improving this... Obviously Cost increase will have be questioned ;) and decrease will be welcomed without any question ;)

But do suggest both :D

You cant save too much on this. You can go for a slightly lesser cpu, dont go below 2.6ghz, see if you can find a mobo in around 2500/-, should be possible.
You can trim the PS to 400w (around 2.5k?). Larger the PSU, quieter its gonna be (talk to thad about silent pcs).
Why is your 50gb hdd costing 4k. Did you look at 2.5" hdds (laptop). Check for 3.5" hdds (desktop), should be much cheaper or you should be able to get a tb in that price.
Buy the cabinet and psu from the same dude. check cooler master cabs with psu, might turn out to be cheaper. dont go below 80% eff.

10k for sound card??? essence costs 8k doesnt it.
See if you can manage with ODAC, its a usb dac that does 24/92, its diy, but comes only pre assembled and tested as a pcb, just needs cabinet. costs about 100$ and should beat the crap out of the essence, havent used it personally, and its a new release.

There isnt much scope of further reduction.:)

10k for the d2x seems much. Essence is around 9k. And its git a better snr and is suited for stereo. Plus you get a really good headphone amp too. Go for the essence st...
