Hey Guys!

My Samsung LA32C550J1RLXL recently lost its panel after more then 5 years of usage.
While trying to look for its replacement I am getting tilted towards Plasma TVs.There are some available online and rest I would have to hunt in market.

I am thinking to go for following features:
50 inch, Full HD, 3 HDMI, 2 USB, Good picture quality.I am not looking for 4k displays yet.

Got till following so far:
Samsung 51F5500
Panasonic P50ST30D

Any feedback about there performance, price, availability, issues or anything to help in my hunt will be highly appreciated.:)

Thanks & Regards
Hridyesh

Plasma, unfortunately is no longer widely available. Taking into consideration the life span of a Plasma TV, and service support, I would recommend that you look at OLED or other TV's.( Unless of course you are willing to risk the Plasma TV failure/ problems)

Why plasma why not 4k led ?

4K led in India are only sitting in showrooms and only giving eyecandy service to viewers.I guess we lack on enough content for 4k in India.Besides someone on this forum has already pointed out various drawback in large size(more than 42 inches) led TVs.I can still try to find some good PDP in market and bargain on price if getting extended warranty(upto 3 years).
But your input would still have its place in my minds. Thanks for that!!!:)

I don't think I would even consider OLED tv at least for next three years only because of price factor. They surely are the future and trustworthy answer to plasma.I want just a replacement for my FullHD LCD tv.
However that doesn't weighs down the worth of your suggestion.
Thanks for that!!:)

My true motive is to fight the availability issue in market and win a pocket friendly deal with extended warranty/service support from the brand.
Is there any worth in buying a 2/3 year old plasma in good condition??? OR a demo piece after checking its total runtime?

Using Panasonic plasma X20D since Sep 2010. Touch wood but not a single issue till date!!! Plasma wins hands down if you have a darker environment, if you cannot have that, stay away from plasma. In a well lit room, all you see are reflections in day time. Also plasma consumes more power so if your usage is >5-6 hrs of TV everyday, stay away.

That said, its a worth investment if you can adjust to the above said requirement of darker room. Watching a movie at night without a single light will blow your mind. Awesome picture quality and no trace of any blur!!!

Does anyone think 35K is reasonable quote for a used (about 4 years) Panasonic P50ST30D?? I pushing for 30k after checking with service support only.
Your great inputs would be highly appreciated.

Rs 25,000 to Rs 30,000 is more reasonable for a 4 year old used plasma. Rs 35,000 sounds high. You will find plenty of them in OLX. But be careful as you go for the buy.

What checks n precautions did you kept in mind while striking you final deal??And how safe an OLX offer could be?

I would not pay more than 22-25K for a 4 year old Plasma.
Unless you know how it has been used, and there are no IR issues as also if there are any loose connections/ prior repairs etc. do not touch it.

As already mentioned, do not get fixated on Plasma in today's market.

I know, its isn't realistic to find a plasma TV in today's market.Today market has shrunk our options to very low.Today if a blind person accidentally falls on a TV, its going to be LED.Its a hard truth and I am not enjoying it.
I haven't yet caught the "4K Fever" due to lack of content n availability in India.I need a TV good enough to support me at-least for next 3 years till OLED TVs achieves its maturity and maybe +1 year more till it percolates to Indian shops.

Could someone appraise me about Panasonic Viera TH-P42GT50D Plasma Television??
How different it is from Panasonic Viera TH-P42ST30D?? Which one I can go for if getting in same price?

I have the Pana 50gt50 which was the best tv of its size in the Indian market in 2012 the 42gt50 was the best in that size. Very good colors and black levels. Do check for image burn in due to abuse.
