I don't know your budget but I zeroed in on Marantz SR7009. Now I am looking for a store in HYD to make the purchase :).

I think only denon & Marantz ,Cambridge audio,NAD & Integra is providing audyssey Multi EQ ,onkyo earlier provides but recently moved into their own room correction..
Based on ur Budget u can look into Denon X1000/x1100 and Marantz NR1504..

Why do you want to upgrade your receiver just because it cannot decode dts-hd? Get your blu-ray player to decode and pass on PCM to the receiver. That is what i do (even though my receiver can decode dts-hd), and i hear most others do the same.

Denon X1100W has MultEQ XT. That's the only MultEQ XT receiver close to your budget. Don't get plain MultEQ. XT is the absolute minimum. Otherwise get a used AVR with MultEQ XT.

I recently purchased an ONKYO TX-NR828 , 7.2 surround, with the Audyssey MultiEQ. Its connected to an old set of JBL speakers but with good sensitivity (90 to 91dB). for my room size I found it to be quite adequate. It's rated at 130 Watts at 6 ohms for 2 channels. It's power vs THD Curve on Sound and Vision shows about 110 Watts at 8 ohms 5.1 channels with 0.1% THD. In order to get a thump, I have to crank up the volume to about 65 on the full scale. But the sound is clean. It should be in your budget range since a newer model has come out.

Is Multi EQ XT that important?

Multi EQ XT is a flavor of Audyssey in auto calibrating the speakers, setting channel levels & crossover function according to your room....

In my view Audyssey Dynamic EQ & Volume are more important which comes with AVR which have Audyssey room calibrating features.

I have watched movies, DTH content with/without Audyssey Dynamic EQ and Vol and i must admit, they do a far better job in reproducing the sound to your desired level....

That's because your room happens to be good for sound. In many rooms the sound is absolutely horrible without room correction.

I used the Audyssey Multi EQ on my ONKYO TX-NR828/ JBL speaker system and it did calibrate well the front speakers. For some reason the surround speakers could not be sensed when I moved up the Surrounds to the recommended 3ft height from ear level. So I did my own 75dB set up of the speakers using a Decibel meter and added the distance for auto delay. My custom setup sounds a lot better on media that has high recording levels. Not so much on others.

Strange....When the auto calibration was in process of measuring your speakers, hope it produced that noise from the surround speaker...

Yes Audyssey auto calibration did give the bleep signal on the surrounds. but when playing the media it couldn't be sensed

Hello Friends,

I am also looking for some good setup for last few months. My room size is 14'x12'.
my main aim is for movies & TV & also some music. I am in city (Hisar, Haryana) where i don't have the facility of listening for any of these hifi gears.
Currently i have zeroed on Denon X1100w with Dali zensor 5 FS as i am not able to spend more so will add centre speaker later. Please advise me about the setup
