Input options for a power amp - Advise pls

Hi guys,

I have a proposal for Emotiva UPA-2 Power Amp. The Emotiva preamp USP-1, could not be purchased right now due to budget constraints. Please let me know whether the Power Amp can take input from my PC, which has only onboard sound. Also, what are my options for a suitable preamp or dedicated sound card under Rs.18K? (used one is okay).

Alternatively, i think of using pre-outs of an AVR (Yamaha RXV 671 - Would be my next buy) as input to this UPA-2. I want to use this set up to drive my Wharfedale Diamond 9.5s. Can someone highlight the differences in the SQ, between a USP-1 & UPA-2, PC & UPA-2 and AVR & UPA-2 setup?

One option is to build a SSP (Super Simple Preamp) using the kit provided by Sachin. Should cost you less that Rs 2000 for the entire build.
