My recent purchase of an LED TV from a brick and mortar store involved an installation and demo procedure by a 3rd party mob. I was a little vexed to see that the TV package only came with a stand and no wall-mounting apparatus. For me to get the latter (presumably free of charge) I needed said 3rd party mob to install the television and demo it for me. Furthermore, I have heard mention that there might be complications in terms of warranty validity unless I involve them during installation.

I'm now looking to buy a second television for the BR. What I'd like to know is whether this process will be affected if I buy a TV from an online store. Will I face any warranty issues? How about installation and wall mounting?

Thanks!

As far as I know, warranty is for TV purchased in India from anywhere as long as the TV is manufactured and sold as Indian release. So you can buy from sources such as Infibeam, Flipkart (now they have stopped selling TV and large appliances), Shopclues, etc. as well as standard brick and mortor shops. But warranty will not be available if you purchase from eBay dealers (who are buying from non-India sources and selling them) or grey market.

Installation is done by customer care department of manufacturers. Many instances are there when people purchased from online shops and have got the installation and warranty.

I did the installation of my TV myself eventhough the Sony Service Center offered their service. It is not wall mounted. I later visited their office and collected the wall mounts. All they asked me was the warranty card. As long as you have warranty and bill, the service center guys will come to your home and install it. They will never ask you from where you bought the TV.
