Internal or External Sound Card(s) for Creative M4500 Speakers

Hello HFVians,

Can you please suggest some good Sound Card(s) (Internal or External) for Creative M4500 speakers (4.1 speaker system)? My budget would be Rs. 1.5K (can extend till 2K). It would be great if you could give an approximate price of Sound Card(s) that you would suggest.

PS: I would be happy to buy a 5.1/ 7.1 Channel Sound Card if it supports the above speakers, so that the card will be future proof.

My desktop configuration is as given below:

Mother Board: ASUS A8N-VM
CPU: AMD Athlon 64 Processor 3200+, 2.01 GHz
RAM: 512 MB

The problem with M4500 is that it has 2 pins (1 Black and 1 Green). But, there is only one "out" (Green color) in the Mother Board. So, only 2 speakers (plus a hissing sound from the sub woofer) work if I plug in either the Black or Green pin to the only "out". I tried using a Y connector, but didn't like the sound quality. Please help.

It is not true that your motherboard has only one 'out'. Probably you are referring to the front headphone out. Please check the back of your MB and you will see three 3.5 mm jacks like the one on the front panel. In usual operation oe of them (the green) is used for output (front L and R) and the other two are used for mic in and line in. But you can set these two jacks for outputting the surround, center and Subwoofer signals from the audio control panel. You will need to install the sound drivers for this. From the control panel you can set the speaker system to be stereo, 2.1, 4.1, 5.1 etc.

I would recommend the upgradation of your speakers. Invest in a good 5.1 speaker system. With the present speaker system you can't enjoy surround sound in its glory.
