Allright!! I address all the Ladies(doubtful?) and overwhelming Gents...basically owners and fans of this wonderful TV (despite the screwups with dithering, IR and the occasional dead pixel/panel).

The 50PK550 thread, started by Shaiju is probably the most commented one in the forum, but as life moves on, and focus shifts to other products, and hence we see this thread on the 3rd page of the Television section, and it will be only a matter of time, before it slips to quiet oblivion, maybe just like the PK550 itself, considering the quality issues people have faced. I myself joined hifivision to get some user feedback before and after I bought my set.

As a gesture of appreciation I am posting some pics of the innards of the 50PK550R for the owners who have not had the opportunity to find what lies beneath their objects of joy. I took them when the LG technicians came to investigate my dead panel, which was subsequently replaced.

Cheerio!

Great to hear that you got a new panel. LG and Samsung seems to be facing this a lot (and I say this from experience).

Believe Pana with 3 year warranty and Philips (saw an ad where they were offering 4 year warranty on its LCD) are more confident of their products.

Happy Viewing for the coming world cup - lets get the cup home!

Always look for inner beauty my friend ...! :ohyeah:

Example: Walking down the street, Chic passes by ... think "She must have lovely intestines!!" :D

Cheers

I don't usually go THHHAT deep, just like "Uhm, theres something serious beneath that dress!!! "
:D

well the bottonline is TVs like computers and mobile phones are pretty much SOC (System on a chip) based. So there's no question of repair anymore, if it dont work...replace! Thats why the internals look so clean

Do you get a full one year warranty on the newly installed panel on the day it was installed or is it the purchase date warranty that will be applicable?

The internals looks it is made up of top quality components and has good heat sink.In fact looks better than the Panasonic plasma internal's ive seen.

That does not prove anything, ive has more problem with Seagate hdd when they started offering 5 years warranty and less problems when they had 3 years warranty.

Additional warranty is just another way of marketing ur product and making more sales and that does not mean the product is of great quality. GM India offers 3 years warranty which most car manufacturers dont and that does not make GM cars the best in terms of quality and reliability.

But it does give you peace of mind for those many years securing your investment. Infact if these companies could not resolve an issue during warranty, you could claim for FULL REFUND during warranty period.

I agree with Prankey.

I have a LG Plasma which started sinking a few days outside warranty of 12 months (too short a time to see your money evaporate). Just waiting for it to go kaboom and then bring back my old 21 inch Sony Wega. Will then meditate some time (before diving again into buying a flat panel TV) to bring down my anger towards the HIGH quality products from these manufacturers.
