Hi friends,

My friend is coming from US in a month. I plan to get a useful gizmo from him. I have zeroed in on the IPOD but find that there are a few tempting tablets in the price range of 250 - 300 dollars. Impressed especially with the viewsonic Gslate which retails for 279 d.

Want u to guide me plssssss....

tab is hype ,buy if u dont have laptop ,cheapo tabs have horrible UI , not smooth at all

else Samsung galaxy S will be good idea, ipod touch owners envy itz video playback and screen..

These are 2 very different things, are you really confused what to buy in these two??

Although if you are planning to buy an Android tablet, i have few suggestions for you..
- Buy branded ones only
- I would say buy 10", i find 7" a little small (personal preference)
- Buy something which has good community support as most probably the company will stop support for the device at some point, only the community support can help you after that.
- Go for ones with good hardware, atleast 512MB RAM

IMHO, if you can find something which satisfies these conditions and falls within your budget, buy it, otherwise wait for some more time until Android tablets becomes more common and affordable.

Recently arranged Archos 43 internet tablet for family friend.
It is excellent device except that it has resistive screen.
Having used ipod touch 4g I can say archos 43 is much better device.
They have 7" and 10" models also but choose Generation 8 (the new series) devices only.

it all depends on what you want?small ipod or a tab, archos players are amazing for video play back, the archos 70 and 101 are descent value for money,my suggestion would be get a 1st generation refurb ipad for $350 from the apple store,as good as new

You are choosing between an mp3 player and a tablet. So decide according to your interests and what you will end up using more. If you want an mp3 player to carry around with all the great apps provided by apple and a great interface, you choose Ipod touch. Its not ideal for watching movies or reading books and magazines.

Else if you like a cool device you want for surfing internet and listening and take it around while you are traveling to watch movies etc you chose the tablet. But you cant walk holding it while you switch the play list or while you are jogging. Its more portable than carrying, say a laptop, but not like the mp3 player.

I recommend SuperPad 2 FlyTouch 3 for android. Has good h/w spec and plays HD files smooth and screen is sharp. Going to use it for reading and watching movies on travel. Main purpose is to control HTPC and Music PC remotely. Getting it for 8000INR (Negotiated for a screen guard + 10" Nettop carry bag and leather book case for 600INR)

From where one can buy flytouch3?
Can you link some site from where it is available for cheap?

eBay.com

Wholesale price starts from 189$ (slightly increased). Make sure that its the original SuperPad 2 FlyTouch 3 from the seller (ask the seller through the eBay messaging service to use as a proof if anything wrong happens). Try a final negotiation with the seller (I usually do with all the eBay transactions) for a better price or some freebies.

eg:
New 10.2"flytouch 3 epad superpad android 2.2 GPS WIFI | eBay

Even in Amazon also the starting price is 210$

Does SuperPad 2 FlyTouch 3 come with a Capacitive Multi-Touch Touchscreen or is it just a resistive one?

Screen is resistive. I dont see the requirement of a capacitive screen unless you are looking for a multi touch experience, which will excite you for one week of usage. Since the screen size is 10.2" and responsive enough, normal resistive is more than enough. For any accurate touch, we can use stylus which comes along with it. Also calibration once in a month is not a painful task compared to the cost difference.

Samsung galaxy S is AWESOME! If im not mistaken, it even plays MKV!! :ohyeah:

The difference between Resistive Touch screens and Capacitive Touch screens are much more than just offering Multi-Touch.

  • The image quality through a clear capacitive glass element is far better. Resistive touch screens clouds the image drastically. To prove this theory, I once removed the resistive touch screen from my CarPC monitor and the difference in image quality was light and day (with a bit of exaggeration there...lol).
  • Resistive touch screens are by design more reflective in nature and creates issues in daylight viewability.
  • The fluid touch response is the forte of capacitive screens since they dont depend on resistive grids. Intelligent SW can recreate the fluid touch flow experience on resistive screens as well but the feel is many times better on a capacitive screen.
  • Possibly the only advantage a resistive screen has over capacitive screen is the cost.

Resistive screens of latest devices have come a long way,for example,Archos 43 IT has one of the best resistive screen(seen in person).
Regarding Flytouch device I have doubts relating to durability as there are reports that apads become dead.
