Is it good idea buying H4900?

It is the year end. Samsung may introduce new TVs next year. I don't know when will they release the 2015 models. I am planning to buy 51H4900. It is 3D tv.

I was thinking to buy 43 inch. It costs 42500. I didn't check the price in showroom for 51 inch. In online it costs 55000.

Is it good idea buying H4900 now?

First thing is that, its a Plasma tv you are talking about and Samsung already announced their exit from plasma tv production. so, i think no chance of new tv release in 2015.

Secondly, it is advisable that before finalising that 51" you have to demo yourself, coz it has resolution of 1024x768 (not FHD), but some have reported here it didn't bother them much. In 43" it doesn't matter much but in 51" dont know??? that's why you should see for yourself what pleases you.

If you have just begun this search, there are a lot of confusion waiting for you like Plasma/LED, Size, Brand, HD/FHD, 3d/uhd/oled, etc. choose wisely based on what is your current requirement/budget plus add next 3-5years of your expectation.

If the viewing distance is not more than 10ft, 51" needs FHD for smooth pictures.

I don't need smart tv. but I like the second display in LG PB6600. But it is not 3D.

Does that second display work with any specific phones?

Please suggest. I want bigger size with less amount. LEDs are costly. OLED - I can't buy it. highly costly.

If you want more screen for less money, no frills TV, then LG 50PB6600 is the the TV you should be looking @... BTW there is a FM (gp_freak) from Chennai who had bought this recently.. Try to ping him for some feedback...

Hi agriz, I bought the 51 inch H4900 from reliance for 60k paid 5k more for 2 years rcare. We had a 42 inch lg plasma earlier, now after the panel has settled down the H4900 is simply brilliant. You will not get similar pq in led unless u spend one lac or more. I will surely recommend it.

i compared 4900 with Other LED tvs. LED is looking very good with hd channels.
I saw SD channels on those HD tv. It is very worst.

I am looking to buy a 3D tv with 40 inch or more with the budger of 65K max.
Please suggest. SUN has HD and Vijay TV is coming in HD, There are no HD channels in tamil. In my home they will watch only Tamil channels.

Hi pl remember that plasma will look dull in the showrooms, its due the ambient lighting and also Leds are brighter end of the day. But when u install both at ur home and see then plasma will win clearly even in HD. Our old lg plasma was only 700x400 odd resolution and sd channels used to look good. Pl keep this in mind before finalising. Further don't buy 42 when ur budget is good enough to get a 50 incher. Better buy a non hd 50 inch or more rather than a fhd 42 inch one. Secondly even with 51 inch tv I felt that 3D would be better with a bigger panel. So pl don't waste money on 3D particularly if its 42 inch. Practically its useless

What is ambient lighting?
You are giving me hope on plasma.

My hall size is 18*18 sq ft.
can i go for 51H4900? or 43H4900?

Instead of the 4900 go for the LG 42pn4500. It is better.
But for such a large living room a larger 65" TV is best.

Ambient lighting is just the surrounding light strength or luminance, too well lit room will need a led as they give brighter pictures but believe me plasma is anytime better. And given your room size don't even think of 42 inch. Get a 50 inch tv led or plasma is your call. If you get a 42 now you might feel to upgrade two years later. Better buy a 50 inch and you may not need a bigger tv later, after having two plasmas and a top of the line 5 series Samsung led I feel Leds are no match to plasma pq. They just don't make the grade for me. Better still you are getting them cheaper as well. Good luck

I would recommend it since I am using it, but pl take the extended warranty for sure. I paid 5k for two years extra warranty from reliance digital. The PQ is fantastic. You will not regret it, if flipkart serves your area buy from them. It's 55k I think. I paid 60k in Vijayawada.
