Hi...
i was in the market to inquire/buy an 40" LED for my relative and finally decided to go for Samsung 40 F5500 based on our following requirements.
> screen size should be 40" (non-3d)
> FHD with good PQ.
> smart apps
> wi-fi, lan, min 2hdmi + 2usb
> i feel plasma is not ok as the living area is well lit and thought to go for LED.

after inquiry, we found that the dealers' final price is around 60k with skype camera (worth 6k, they told). but, we seen that some online shopping sites like ebay showing the same model for 46k.

hence, my question is can we purchase it online? is it safe? if yes, what are the things we should keep in mind for safer side while doing so? can we get fresh one?

also guys, pl tell whether this F5500 is a good choice based on our requirement or u have any better option than this? :sos:

There are mixed responses reported regarding online purchase of led. Recently some members reported problems with purchase from snapdeal like old defective panels. It is advised to visit showroom in person and select the best tv using the best of your senses

i suggest you to buy from offline store only & have a peace of mind, though 2-5k expensive.

It all depends upon the seller and NOT ON EBAY/SNAPDEAL/FLIPKART ETC)
you are a dead duck if seller sends you defective/dead/used piece..ebay/snapdeal will take a long time to resolve problem...always record video while opening packages for proof.

I had a good experience with flipkart so far, though my only electronic goods purchased from them is a PS2.

It was shipping with proper packaging. And invoice of the seller as well as the warranty card of Sony was sent to me.

Now if I have any issue, I have to contact the service centre and not the seller. So I think even one buys online, in case of any defect the buyer needs to contact the service centre of the product rather than seller/ online portal.

As far as I know, the sellers (whether physical stores or online portal) are only responsible for selling and for any kind of service, you have to contact the service centre.

But then again there is always trust factor, and even I will think twice before investing in something big like a tv online.

Its wise to buy a TV offline.Mostly TV sold in eBay don't have manufacturer warranty. If you can visit multiple stores you can find the TVs at lesser price

Thanx a lot dear newbie8, RMCWS, sekarkrish for your valuable information.

Based on your suggestions and others here what i found that, we can go for online shopping lessthan 10-15k, if its over than that, it is hard to bear the loss if we receive a defective piece unluckily. so why should one take risk. however its ones personal choice.

finally yesterday, we purchased this Samusung 40F5500 LED at our wellknown local wholesaler with 1yr warranty and also he delivered the same immediately behind us reach home. not able to check everything. seems good. observed closely physically to confirm its a fresh one. also they told 5k for extended 3yr warranty.

i have a question, even though having an inverter at house for lighting do we need a vguard stabilizer for this tv? i think the inverter itself controls power fluctuation and no need of it but, dealer already sent one with led.

guys pl share ur knowledge and what things to be checked during the initial stage of this tv.

Thanx again to all...

Use a Belkin surge protector. Using a stabilizer is good but that would not protect the TV when there is heavy lightning or when there is heavy voltage surge. Check out the Belkin gold series. It would cost more but a good investment in the long run.

Congrats on your purchase.what was the final cost.Get the extended warranty and use stabilizer and get a surge protector too

Thank u both,

surely i'll look for surge protectors. but, i do not know much abt them. pl see this link
Flipkart.com | Belkin 3 Socket Surge Protector - Surge Protector
is this what you are talking abt? and is it ok for this 40" led?

then, the final price is 57-58k with an offer of skype camera :) which will arrive directly from samsung after confirmation of purchase from our dealer to samsung.
They told extended warranty can be taken anytime within a year. not yet opted for that.
