Hi everyone,

have been a silent spectator on this forum for quite a while, only recently registered and started posting.

have this major doubt regarding room size. I decided to change our guest bedroom into a dedicated room for a HT. The room size is 11'x13'. The projector I'm keen on is an Epson TW3600. I have checked with projector central and it is possible to get a 100" screen with a 10' throw. I would like to know from Projector owners if its a good idea to have projector and big screen in a small room ??

The current setup in my bedroom is LG 46"LED, Yamaha RX-V863, Polk Tsi500x2, CS20, Tsi200x2, Psw125, PS3 & TataSkyHD+

thanks

and wish you all a very happy new year 2013 :)

46" LED TV is good enough for a room of this size. Don't bother spending on a projector. Too large a screen will make pixels on the screen visible at this distance.

I was in the same dilemma as you for quite some time (my room is 14'x 9.5'). I can confidently say that a projector is still a very good buy.

I went in for a short-throw projector (since I wanted flexibility) and I am very happy with my decision. The main difference that you get with a large image (100" +) is the experience being so immersive. Hard to describe unless you experience it yourself. And I am using my wall as the screen for now, not even a proper screen.

If you have the budget, I would strongly recommend you go for it.

I recommend a projector too. The density of pixels that could creating a screen-door effect isn't a problem if you are sitting at least 8 feet away and using good original DVDs and BluRays . The bigger the screen the more immersive the experience. However I am only speaking about watching movies...for TV programs it is a little disconcerting to have a head four feet tall reading you the news!! :)

I have seen in several post to see funny comments whoever never used the PJ at this room size use to throw some invaluable comments in this forum.

I could see last few post were very supportive. Placement is more important to enjoy those kits. We cannot hit and demolish an bathroom to to get an additional 4 feet or 6 feet for the full HD PJ.

11x13" is an very ideal for watching an Full HD PJ.

Regards

By all means go ahead with a PJ. I project from a distance of about 11 feet to get a 6X8 image. Its very enjoyable. If the source is good you wont notice any pixels.

PJs in a small room, at night, with a short throw distance, for day/bright scenes may be too bright and stain the eyes.

But this I haven't experienced personally - just a thought though.

The good news is that compensating this by increasing overall ambient lighting is much easier done than the other way round of trying to make a darkened room due to lack of PJ Lumens.

thanks everyone :)
looks like my room will actually be ok to put a projector in it !!
based on online reviews , I thought I'll go in for the Epson TW3600. Was initially gonna ask someone to bring it for me from the US (the 8350 model)- but with the high dollar rate and risk of no warranty, think i'll pay that extra 20k and get one here !!

Any other suggested models in the 60 - 80k range ??

@OP BTW can u control the ambient light??? If yes than Mitsubishi HC4000 is probably the best u can get in this range... Should cost u 85-90k... If u cant & have a little ambient light then the Epson TW3600@90k or the Viewsonic Pro8200 can be good options as both have ample brightness to use even during the day... If u are open to importing then there are a few options under 55k available delivered to India (like the Acer H6500,BenQ EP5920 etc)...

Staxxx, I know this is off topic but I'm new to this forum and am unable to PM you regarding your NAD375. If its still up for sale I'd be happy to pick it up as the dealer in B'lore ie: ARN is taking time to source one. Please PM if your still interested in selling the amp.
My apologies to the others on this thread for digressing from the topic.
