Hi all,

I am new to this forum, first time posting. I am thinking of setting up a media room in a home that I am closing on very soon.

I first need to know if the room is big enough for a projector. It is an awkwardly shaped bonus room, and the only good wall I think could be used for projection has a large window. I don't really have measurements of the room, but I plan to take some the next time I get to visit the home in a week. I do have photos from the listing.

Can you guys advise me on will a projector/media room work in this room, and if so, how would I put a screen over the window and what size screen?

I appreciate any help.

Hi,

Unfortunately, the photos do not give us a clue of the room size. Please give the dimension of the room and if possible take the plan from the builder.

As per the photo, if you want to place the screen on the Window, it appears that the line of vision, is not straight. If that is the case, see how you would be able to place the seats and if that allows for a comfortable angle to view.

With the present details, it looks like not a very encouraging scenario. I may be wrong, we can only tell if we have the room plan and dimensions.

Placing the screen on the window has disadvantage of emitting light from behind. You can address that by placing blinding curtains on the window and then placing the screen. Again not very ideal scenario, if you ask me.

As you are saying that it is a bonus room, it may be worth the deficiencies, if you are getting this room for free or almost free sort of things.

I have a set up, where I have placed a 100 inch screen at a distance of 16 feet. This is just adequate. 18 ft would have been ideal.

Thanks,
Venky

Yes, dimensions preferably with a floor plan since it is not a regular room.

Venky, is that 100" width or diagonal?

If you can carve out a rectangular space of atleast 14x12 feet in that room, you can go for a projector. The windows wont be an issue, as you can use blackout cloth and a curtain to cut the light.
If you still are not sure, go for a huge LCD TV and enjoy life :)
