is stereo amp good for mp3 ?

I think the problem with AVR running short of power while producing bass out of speakers is common in my case as well since I own Aviano 6 as well. With ODAC I did get improvement in sub-less mode in terms of bass and also with break in of the speakers or more usage the bass response even from AVR alone improves, noticed this in my system as well. What I will suggest to be the cheapest option would be to go the Aviano 6 shop with the same mp3 file that you are not getting fair bass response at home and ask them to play using a dedicated stereo amp with Aviano 6. If you see improvement as compared to your home, you know it is the AVR and not speakers, if not then it is definitely the file. Ask them to play a bassy song using CD Player and observe the difference. If still no improvement then Aviano 6 bass is not to your taste.

320kbps MP3 format songs can produce good amount of bass if there was some bass content in the original recording. What kind of MP3 did you try playing in your system? If they are old film songs then most of them hardly have much bass content in the original recordings. If your not happy with the amount of bass in a 320kbps MP3 song then you will not find much difference in bass by getting a audio CD version of the same song.

I would suggest you to download some mp3s to test the bass reproduction of your system, search for "bass test mp3" in Google and you should find some. If your getting bass sounds with the test MP3s then we can say for sure that your songs do not have bass content in their original recording.

I am totally zero knowledge in this area. I just asking help from you peoples(I am thinking amp may be help).now I got amp cant do anything with mp3. now I am downloading 320kbps songs for old days movies .

Your Marantz receiver is a fine AVR. To replace with a stereo amp, you will need to spend quite a bit of money. Yet, it will not give you any tangible benefits with what you have.

I think your problem could be room, as flash indicated few posts back. Download some audio test tones. Especially one with 200 hz to 18 hz or 300 hz to 18 hz sweep. When you are playing it, listen and notice if you hear different loudness. If you can measure with a spl meter, then it would be great. But you should be able to tell by just listening to it. That would tell you if room nodes are messing up.

Try purchasing few CDs which are normally sung by some of our contemporary singers of current generation which are from the original soundtrack of yesteryears which you may have at hand.

Examples are like Kishore kumar / Rafi / Asha b / Lata M songs are mostly re-sung by our new generation singers like Sonu n/shaan/Abhijeet/kumar Sanu/shereya g and others.

in other lingo - get few remixed/re-recorded versions (which are marked "NOT FROM THE ORIIGINAL SOUNDTRACK" or something like "..section52 of copyright act.1952.").

Examples:
The Return of Daddy mix.
Baby*H mere naseeb... remix.
DJ aqeel Disco 82.
few albums from bombay viking
or
some sane music from Dance Masti.
etc ,etc hyeah:
Just to get an idea on what you miss.
if yours is further down the years - I'm not sure if our Music directors were using Bass Guitars/Drums so heavily - they were mostly limited to Indian instruments and the stress was more on classical presentation of the vocals rather than any of the instruments.

ps. I hope similar albums should be available in the language you listen to.

Also, do check the Wire connections to the speakers : swapping + and - connection, it may be incorrectly connected /i.e the speakers may be out of phase - cancelling out most of the lower freq.

If you have sound Retriever option in audio settings of your receiver, it will help you in getting good quality of sound from your 320kbps mp3 songs.

Sound Retriever function: A DSP processing is used to compensate for the loss of audio data upon compression, improving the sound's density and modulation.

I have set to on and now my towers are producing quality for mp3 songs too..

IMHO all the AVR would give atleast Decent stereo sound effect and it depends on two factors apart form Speakers.

1. Source, If its FLAC its well and Good,or it should be a Original CD or atleast 320 Kbps file.
2.Settings in the AVR,You need to adjust the setting to the avr while shifting form HT to stereo mode\Music Mode.

Spending amount for New stereo amp should give a nice change but i think its not quite necessary.

There could few issues in your set-up,1) Source file 2)Audio Setting 3)Speaker placement.

In case you didnt get the required output even after sorting the above thins , then go ahead for New amp.This IMHO

Earlier I was connected the cable in wrong way for one speaker,that is in out of phase .one of FM member told me to correct it.after I did got improvement in bass. now I have all most 320kbps , some FLAC songs and now buying original CDs.

Coming to AVR setting,I changed the channel level in setting(make it +10db out of 12db) and pure direct mode.now it is fine. but I feel like if I go to amp,it may be give better result than AVR. if it can give I can use AVR preouts as a source for amp.

some people said Marantz can not produce heavy bass.is it correct ?
