Friends my cousin brother planning to purchase YHT-196 this January (budget 30k)...but before that I want to clearfy few thing regarding this HT.

1. Wheather the AVR get HEATED up quickly to much

2. How much YHT-196 effect in monthly electric bill / power consumption

3. should I can get blury disk quality HD audio through this HT as it is only HD pass through

4. How about sub-woofer

I hope you people will be kind enough to provide necessary information as early as possible.
Thank you

YHT 196 support DD/DTS but not DD treuHD and DTS HD. Is has a passive sub. If the budget is 30K then better go for YHT 299 (35-36K).

YHT 196 is suitable for budget <22K ..if u can increase upto ~35K ..and u can get Onkyo HT 3500 ,HT 4505 or Yamaha YHT 298 or 299.. or u can check Denon budget ~38 to 40 K which is better than 196..in terms of features and sound quality...

No it does not get heated much.

Monthly impact would be equivalent to running a TV so don't worry on that count either. Don't look at the wattage of speakers, look at wattage of the power supply.

I infact gifted this to my cousin.
I heard it in action.
Absolutely stunning. There is a very good coherence between all channels.
They have Burr brown 32bit 196khz DACs incorporated in them which is strange to have at this price point.
Regarding heat output, as far as i know , my cousin never complained about.
And regarding electricity bills he never cared or complained.

I used to own a Yamaha YHT 196 . Let me tell you its a super VFM. It does get hot specially when running 5.1 source. however that was never alarming and I believe that is normal for any amp.Just ensure that you keep the top of the receiver open for proper air circulation and it will be fine.

I do not have exact idea on the Power consumption , however the datasheet lists that as a max of 250W. One thing I can assure you is it wont burn a hole in your pocket as far as electric bill is concerned.

Go for it!

Good sound seperation.
i'm using Airtel SD STB... connect the STB to TV and TV's ARC HDMI to AVR
ARC & CEC very useful.
using Cinema DSP, can virtually convert stero to multichannel. Great Effect.

and about heating... 3-4 hours continous usage... no problem.. (note: table 3 side open one)

electicity consumption - no noticeble difference in the electricity billl, before & after.

Thank you very much 4 ur useful kind reply...as u told u r using this HT..can you friends plz tell me how is the bass effect of YHT-196 and in comparison with YHT-299 how much it differ in sound quality

Thank you

main difference Rs. 13,000 :)

same speakers except Sub
Powered Subwoofer (More bass + extra 50W electricity)
for an average room (14 x 12 ft) 196 is enough.. can get more bass by keeping the sub on the right corner.

299 +s
Dolby trueHD
dts HD
Doby digital Plus
USB
4K passthrough
Advanced YST
YPAO sound optimization
4 hdmi in (3 in for 196)
on screen display
front av in
Video input and output

Firstly.. is this avr officially supported even..? i contacted croma sotre and they told to pick the one that they were selling.. and told that this version is discontinued... i know these people can talk bullshit majority of the times.. as the just need to sell what they have in stock.. like the normal sabjiwallas.. ;)

can someone tell me where to buy this avr by going to a store physically??
I am in delhi.. so delhi/noida is fine to me..

The only place i can find the listing online is on infibeam and snapdeal.. but i am skeptical about ordering from them.. as they arent going to help in extended warranty if there is any chance of applying for.

my major concern is the extended warranty.. are there any options for the same?

Please help someone..

Thanks..

I remember my friend picking it from Lulu Connect in Kochi.

He has a limited size room and says this is very good (and enough) for him.
