Hi everybody,
After a very long time I am starting this thread as I could not find any good review about the speaker JBL 4307. It seems it is only made for the Japanese customers:o
Looks like a age old design relaunched. And it surely looks yum:licklips:
If anyone of the forum is using it, a review is welcome. Am attaching a pic for you all to drool.:ohyeah:

Even in a small mixing room I like the JBL 4312 speakers. They handle the bass just a bit better. The 4307 uses a 10 inch woofer and only gets down to 45 Hz with authority (meaning rich full sound.)

I replaced a set of 4307's in a customers facility with the 4312E and the remarks were "Ah so desu ka!" much better. The 4312 is a Japanese market speaker also. I don't suggest using it outside Japan as service can be a fruitless endeavor.

The 4307 seems to be aimed at the Japanese consumer market. They are expensive for a bookshelf speaker, but the cabinet work is beautiful wood, and they appeal to owners with very limited space.

If you really want the JBL professional sound, it is hard to beat the LSR6332. The linear Spatial Response is what serious pro's are using to "hear" what they are producing. These are about US$ 1500 each, and are perfect for behind the screen home theater applications.

My review of the 4307 is excellent if your listening space is the size of a Tata Nano.

Thanks Moviela.
LSR6332 is priced at Rs. 2.1lakh in kolkata. :( My budget is not more than a lakh. I have a quote of 95K for JBL 4312e. Yet to get a quote for 4307.
My listening space is about 11ft x 13ft. Do you think this a space too big for 4307? Or shoud I go for 4312e?
Are those (4307, 4312e) good enough for stereo with out a sub?

The 4312E is a good speaker but it is meant for more studio applications and applications where senstivity and SPL is required. For example on another thread a member talked about the Monitor Audio RX8 (also selling for 95K). If you were listening to music in your bedroom I'd say get the RX8. If you want a hardy speaker that can take abuse get the 4312E.

The application decides the speaker/amplifer/etc...

I disagree the JBL destroys any consumer speaker like the monitor audio. It isn't really a contest. Being a monitor (JBL) it will most likely have a much flatter response and less phase/time problems. EQ to taste if needed. Most people will say it is too bright, what they mean is its top end is flat/extended and not rolled off or a roller coaster curve.

Other choices are the QSC K12 and the equivalents from similar companies. Not monitors but still very good for the price.

If you are seeking "accuracy" (to the signal, not an arbitrary personal definition of it like "audiophiles") then the JBLs are a pretty good bet. Other monitors like Genelec as well. There are a few companies who make monitors if that's what you prefer.

Thanks to Navin and Decadent for the reply. :)
It seems that to buy those speakers one have to rely on the reviews rather than a demo, as the dealers will not provide any.
So coming back to the main stream the containders on my list are
1. PSB Image T6
2. KEF Q700
3. Polk Audio Rti A9
Usage: Music in Stereo mode. (Mostly 80s pop rock and hindi songs)
Right now I have a Kenwood KA2200 amp (150Wx2) (4 to 16 ohms) to drive one of those pair. I like the PSB T6. Very nice with vocal and mid. I will have a demo of the other two. Anybody using those speaker in the forum are welcome to share their views on them.
Is KEF Q 700 bass heavy?

Q700 are not bass heavy.

Ideally the JBL's are the ones you should seriously look for. Why not get in touch with sahil international the distri for JBL & ask them for a demo of the JBL's?

Interesting choices you have. You just cannot beat the JBL product for accurate reproduction, and you will be hearing sound very similar to what the producers heard. It troubles me that you cannot get a demo for such an expensive purchase. When it comes down to purchasing speakers, the buyers perception trumps all other considerations.

You have some feelings about needing a sub. The 4312 has a 12 inch woofer that is flat down to 40 Hz. You won't have many stereo signals that require a lower response. If you use a processor to recover LFE (Low Frequency Effects) you might need a sub. The LFE track is seldom music per se, rather explosions, crashes, thumping, and other sounds that shake the pop corn in cinemas.

In your listening area, the 4312's will sound very good, and you can use a modest amplifier and a quality cable like Canare 4S6 or Belden 1307e. These cables are less than Rs50 per foot. There is none better at any price.

Thanks Denom.:)
I have mailed Pavan Shrivastav of Shail International and he mailed back promptly stating their inability to procure those models as they only deal with the home audio segment and those are pro models. And he gave me the link which deals with the pro segment.
:: Welcome to Hi-Tech Audio Systems :: .
Previously I contacted a person in Kolkata who is a sales person of High tech audio systems informed me that those models can not be imported by them as they are unavailable in international market from where they were supposed to source it.
But he told me he could supply a pair of LSR6332 for approx Rs. 2Lakh, which far exceeds my budget. But he also told me that will try for some discount! Am waiting for his call.

Thanks Moviela. :)
This model (LSR6332) really looks very good by the specs. Maybe I could get a demo from High tech audio systems in near future.

Right now I am going for a demo of KEF Q700. Will post my reactions tomorrow.

The models you are looking for seem to be mainly catered to japanese market. So the info given to you by hi-tech seems to be correct.
Google Translate

Hence your only choice is to import these or look at whats available here.

Best Wishes.

Hi everybody,
My search for the dream speaker continues...
Yesterday evening I went to Pro-Fx Kolkata to demo a pair of KEF Q700. Amp used for the demo were two Denon PMA 700. The sound was all right when the volume is in 9 o'clock position. Bass gets distorted above that. Maybe there was a setup problem with bi-amping, but I am not impressed.
Next came something a notch down. Polk audio Rti A7. To my opinion bass was much better and controlled. The volume control was in 11 o'clock position. Here the mids were just OK. Nothing great. The speaker looks very nice and would have settled for this model if not for the next thing that was lined up for demo!
In came Focal Chorus 714V. Fantastic mids. Tight bass, whatever it could produce with those smallish drivers. Top end was very nice. It plays so good from low to mid volume that one would not want to crank the volume any more. So I asked them which was the next model in the same series that could give just a little more bass. Answer: Focal Chorus 726V. Unfortunately they don't have it in stock right now. They promised me to bring it within 14 days time. Will demo it with my Kenwood amp (150W x 2 at 8 ohms).
So guys, will have to wait for a week or two. Right now the fight is between PSB image T6 and Focal Chorus 726V.:D

Above opinions are solely my personal views.

What a change eh???

Guess you have no choice & have to settle for whats available here & that is the sad part.

Best wishes

Answer: Focal Chorus 726V..

I would strongly recommend the MA RX8 (if you can audition them near you) to this list. How much do the Sonus Faber Toy Tower retail for?

Thanks Navin. But no dealer of MA or SF in kolkata.
The fight is still between PSB Image T6 and Focal Chorus 726V. So any review on the Focal is welcome as I am yet to get a demo. From what I gather from net the Focals have good high end extension. Will that be a problem with turntable playback? (more clicks and pops?)

Not really. Most pop and clicks can be reproduced by any speaker. Unless the speaker has a pronounced hump in the region there should not be any difference here. Some more "dynamic" speakers do make pops and ticks more noticeable then again they make light cymbal work also sweeter.

Hi everybody,
So, after many hours of audition finally it is Focal chorus 726V. :yahoo:
Right now waiting patiently for the delivery. The people at Pro Fx Calcutta were extremely helpful.
Hope this is going to end my upgaditis and finally I will be concentrating on the music and not the equipment.
Will post my views in detail after I get them. And thanks to the forum for all those informative threads which helped me a lot to choose my speaker.

Well, finally the Focals have arrived. And after 6 days with them and a burn in period of more than 30 hours they are behaving very nicely with a smooth sound. Those speakers has a very balanced high frequency which does not come for your ear though they have the sparkle when needed.

The best thing about those speakers are the mids. Any music with a relaxed pace and a lot of vocal (especially male) sounds fantastic. Bengali songs are a treat for ear coming from those speakers.:licklips:

Old hindi song sounds very good too as they have a smooth mid output.
As it is still in the burning in precess I really cannot asses its potential with rock music. Though bass output goes real low. There are two 6.5 inch bass driver which can produce low frequency to chest thumping spl.

They are connected with Chord Carnival SilverScreen speaker cable to my Kenwood KA2200 amp. Being a 80s amp it has a sort of warm sound, which is now working wonder for my turntable with those speakers.

Cd player (pioneer DV400 K) is connected with Chord Cobra Plus interconnects. These interconnects are worth every penny one spends for them. Right now I am looking for a interconnect for my turntable with a slight roll off on the top frequency. Any suggestion are welcome.

Congratulations! I've heard a lot of good things about the focal chorus 726 V
but unable to audition in bangalore since ProFx is not a dealer anymore, apparently Focal is still looking for a new distributor/dealer in bangalore
Could you share the price you paid back in April ? I'm expecting it to be much higher now on account of higher dollar rates. Also, still trying to figure out if someone in Bangalore has it so that I can actually request them for an audition!
Would be great if you could also read & respond to another post in the Speakers section regarding my shortlist.
