I've been using the iOS app for a bit to control my Lumin streamers and it's a great way to get as close to a Roon Remote experience (agnostic of streamer) as possible. I didn't realise till I looked up their website and tried the app that it'd be possible to control a UPnP device without accompanying "core/server" software. The UI is intuitive, thoughtfully designed and fast. It doesn't match Roon, but for people who have tried and abandoned that software (I have; never liked the sound quality), it's worth auditioning - it costs $49.99 a year, with a 14-day free trial period.
Things I like:
- Simple search module
- Great library organiser
- Easy navigation
- Album/artist/track info
- Ability to filter search results based on what's in the library
- Lock Screen player (I know this sounds small, but it saves me the trouble of opening up the Lumin app each time I want to skip or pause a track)

The website claims the app was built by "fanatical audiophiles", and that it enhances SQ. While I have no doubt the developers consider themselves fanatical audiophiles, I'm not sure (how) a remote app controlling a UPnP device can change sound characteristics - I haven't noticed any difference and don't buy this claim. But I'd definitely recommend it as an intuitive remote control for a streamer.

Is this app available on play store?

No it's iOS only right now. I would still use roon over this. DLNA is meh protocol where the stream comes first to the phone instead of going directly to the endpoint.
You're right. That's quite possibly why they launched JPlay Femto - although, I think it's odd that while one is a PC-based solution, its control mechanism is iOS-only. On a side note, I wish Audirvana Legacy wasn't as buggy as it is - it's still my preferred streaming solution.

With U2 I used Roon and JPLAY for few weeks. Roon upsampling was pretty good and the UI was obviously better but at the end I bought JPlay. JPlay for me sounded superior, livelier.

DLNA can't sound better - technically it has higher latencies than RAAT and also the protocol itself is kinda defective. Maybe JPLAY is doing some dsp under the hood.

Also roon upsampling is also meh. Try hqplayer - even the default filters are 100x better than anything roon can do!

With U2 you can directly connect hard drive. Is Jplay better than using direct HDD?
If you use Jplay on PC then how to control vis app?
I have u2 mini and 1 year subscription for Roon.

JPlay is only a remote control software module. It recognises a NAS or USB drive in the local network, which you can then play.

You cannot use JPlay on a PC; it's an iOS-only app.

Also, I wrote to JPlay about SQ (if there's any DSP at work), and this is what they said:
JPLAY does not touch audio data, so there is no signal processing. The difference in sound is achieved only through minimizing network traffic between the app and the streamer.

Using JPlay daily. Once the trial is over, I am thinking of subscribing to it. And, hopefully, during black Friday/Cyber Monday deals I can purchase the full version at cheaper prices.
Thanks @JaideepGiridhar for suggesting. Mconnect is kinda buggy. The experience is much better with Jplay.

I have been using JPLAY for quite sometime now. It was actually very buggy initially but after few software updates it works perfectly fine now.
Been very happy with it
