Hi All,

Looking for this stylus for my JVC jl-f35 TT.

I've pulled this cart out and whacked the m97 xe in there. There is a"hum / feedback" as soon as I drop the needle on the record. The positioning of the TT, amp and speakers is the same as I had for my 401. No change. Just the 401 moved and the JVC occupied that space. (it's a belt drive)

This feedback is a lot lesser with the m97 compared with the m75. Thoughts?

Maybe move a few more numbers even higher to m 112 or so :)

Though seriously, I'll add the part about there being no hum when you auditioned it, it will help guys here narrow down the options.

Hi
M97xe is higher compliance(softer stylus suspension) than M75(stiffer stylus suspension).Your JVC arm has low mass thus more suitable to higher compliance cart (M97xe).M75 is less suitable to your JVC arm. This is the only reason for more acoustic feedback/resonant frequency IMO.

Hello Finyl Vinyl

try this three steps and let me know if it helped, though they may sound you silly

1. take 4 small square blocks of sponge and place them under the legs of the tt.

2. check if the earthing is working fine and if possible open the tt and check if you have earthing suply to both the tonearm and the circuit , disconnect the earth supply to the tonearm and let there be earth to the circuit board

if still no go

3. replace the earth wire , and the RCA wire ( use good quality )

All the best

Thanks all. It isn't an earthing issue. I need to find the spot from where I can lubricate the motor.

It's very low rumble that I am picking up. All wiring is fine. It's sitting in the same spot where the 401 sits. Changed the cart to the m97. Rumble is lesser.

I think the lubrication will settle it

I think it could be rumble noise from the AC motor inherent in some of the models. Pl check if the motor suspension is isolated. With age, the rubber bushes may have deteriorated.

Considering it only starts when you drop the needle, I think you've got the right solution with the lubrication, though that would still not explain how it did not pick up that feedback when you auditioned it... Hmmmmm

Sachu makes a good point as it explains the diff in hum with diff carts...
