L42ET5D vs 42LM6410 or Any other 42 inch TV

Hi guys..

Finally I gambled for a panasonic 42 ET5D paying around 60K. My wish was to get an LG LM series . But there are no stocks in shops. The other contender was Sony 40 EX650. The picture motion flow is better in panasonic due to 100 Hz panel. So I took it. The advantages stops there.

Sound is muffled, not having clarity. So I had to put a separate 2.1 speaker for better experience.

Fast the past few days, Im coming to terms with the purchase. 3D feature is good but may not be what worth to invest on a 42 inch tv. The characters doesnt seems natural in 3D with passive tech. Cant control 3d viewpoint as offered in LG TV.

The biggest gripe is with file format support. Cant read many avi files with video taken from canon camera for example. Cant play 3gp file. Can read my old FAT32 formatted USB HDD. So I used a friends HDD, it works fine.
Compared to Sony or LG Menu, the panasonic implementation is pathetic. The number if apps available in market place is too less.

The web browser doesnt support FLASH... CLEAR. So many websites are useless to me on this smart tv now. Im a constant youtube user. I watched a 2 hour movie. Stability is good and good quality. But surprisingly FF and RW is a painful procedure. Each FF press advances video by 10 seconds !!. Suppose you want to resume the movie later from 60 minutes position, u have to press like hell on the remote !!. Also, there is no way to control the resolution used by youtube app. Sony does both with such a charm .

Picture brightness is low in my home with moderate light, so i have to keep max brightness on this TV. There are no support sites from usa or japan for panasonic tv. In India they dont have thier own service centre.

So my verdict is dont buy this or new 2013 panasonic TV for 3D or smart features. I could have asked the sales guy to check internet stuff, but the shop didnt had the connectivity.

For 3d and smart content, LG is the best platform. LG tv supports FLASH on browser. LM series is quite worth fr the money.

For brilliant picture with extra brightness, go for sony. Sony EX 650 is too good at the price of 54K in croma.

So, now I will have to buy an android stick to make it a better smart tv.

Does 42LM6410 have analog audio out? Most of the LG models lack this feature and is a deal breaker for me. I think Panasonic gives analog audio out as well as headphone out.
This is a important factor since the sound of LED tvs is not that good and not very powerful.
I have amp and speakers and dont have an AVR, so analog audio out is important when i play a video file through tvs USB.

Hi,

I think, just head phone out is enough if u require analog out. Panasonic has analog RCA audio out and a head phone out and an optical out.
Even LG will have atleast a headphone out. From my demo , I saw that LG LM series has good vibrant sound, Sony EX650 is having very high volume sound from a woofer type of speaker, and the best available in thin LED is the gorgeous panasonic DT50 with 16 micro speakers and a woofer. But, now, based on my new experience , none should go for panasonic except for plasma.

Just go and check the store if there is headphone out..more than enough for ur purpose. The Best for u Sony EX650 series . Panny doesnt support many file formats from usb.
