laptop card doing 24bit/192khz audiphile grade decoding ?

Hi all,

i got confused (happy!)by a configuration to select
24bit /192khz audio decoding option in my laptop.

from vista control panel>sound>sound card > properties >advanced
screen shot goes here :

Does this mean my sound card is capable of doing 24bit /192khz decoding ?or just a generic GUI in vista ? Do you guys get this option?

I feel the output is descent using ASIO drivers and XMplay player .
[however ,i know a dedicated DAC will give even better o/p]

Yes it does.
Most of the on board sound cards can do that. The ones on the desktop also do 7.1 channels. The only problem is that these sound cards sound good only on paper, (and tiny multimedia speakers), not when you connect them with a good amp and big speakers. So all depends on what you are planning to do with it.

never tested with floorstanding speakers

i am feeding to yamaha AVR rxv361 aux then goes to bookshelves, the quality is very decent , also movies do very good with sonic stage mastering studio ->vaio renaissance bass tuned to 60Hz boost.


in future i will add a firewire interface like "t.c. connekt 6"
