I have a vintage Laxman R800 which I have been using since last 5 years. Since yesterday, I am observing a lot of disturbance once it is switched. The disturbing comes even if the volume is on zero. An pointers on this please?

And who could be a good technician for Laxman in Mumbai? Any assistance would be highly appreciated!

Laxman seems to be Ram's brother. You mean Luxman.

There are competent technicians all over India, a handful and dying breed, which are also very reluctant to take such work these days as 1) Parts are expensive to import + take time, 2) owner of equipment that needs repair often haggle and refuse to pay the charges for their work done.

So, unless you are willing to pay, no one will touch the said equipment, let alone look at it.

Thanks a lot! Yes, it's Luxman my friend. And if I want quality repairs, I have to pay the price! Can you suggest someone in Mumbai? I know only one person in Mumbai (Sanjay Raut) who is good but takes a lot of time! I have never haggled for cost with him BTW. Any other pointers?

Hi

I believe that the R800 needs standard servicing......if ground sound is coming even with volume at ZERO, this might indicate a dry solder issue....

If there is a skilled technician in the area who repairs high end stuff....(ensure the technician is around 40-50 years old....he would then have some experience for sure)....you get the matter resolved.

Could be a dry solder or a failed Pot
It should hopefully be relatively easy to fix by any old technician who is experienced on working with analog electronics

My bad, did not read Sanjay Raut's name (mentioned) and posted details in a hurry. The mod's can delete this post.
