Hi

I bought a lenco l70 and using it with sansui 517. But i hear huge noise. It looks like grounding is not proper. Any suggestion to stop noise?

Thanks

There should be two separate grounds on the L70. If the power cable is two wire cable, change it to three wire cable, and connect the ground wire of this three wire cable to motor chassis AND under side of top plate. That takes care of power ground.

Your signal ground originates from inside the tone arm tube, so you'll have five tiny wires coming out from the tonearm base and terminated on a tag block on the top of top plate. You can see it if you remove the platter. The right channel are red (+) and green (-), left are white (+) and blue (-). The fifth wire is signal ground, and it must be connected to the ground terminal of the phono preamp.

Make sure that the signal wires from TT to phono preamp/amp is NOT routed close to other equipment like line level preamp or power amp or CD player. It should be as far away as possible from the transformer of the above mentioned devices.

Thanks.Power cable is changed to 3 wire cable and signal ground is connected power ground.

But I checked amp with fm tuner. Even for tuner there is noise at high volume. Does it mean amp ground may have problem?

Separate the grounds.

To avoid ground loops, it is best to ground your entire audio chain only at one point, preferably the preamp, and leave everything else floating. I do it but would not advise everyone to do it because floating the ground on equipments is not a safe practice.

Thanks. Previous owner changed the headshell to backlite and made signal ground connection to power ground.

Just a question, what will happen if grounding is not proper in my apartment?

could it be a reason for hum?

Thanks

Glad you got the issue sorted. I was also goi to mention the headshell wiring is different than regular headshells. In fact just getting a spare headshell for mine was a mission!

How are you liking the table? I love mine, it's a real BEAST of a TT

How does the L70's tonearm perform, assuming you are using the stock tonearm.

Yes, its a stock tonearm. This is the first time I am listening to vinyl. Its good. I like it. It came with plastic idler. I planning to change to metal.

Thanks

I am looking for a headshell too just to keep a spare.

I like it. Its totally different from digital sounding sources. Think I may not use my digital sources much.

I may get linn axis turntable. Seller asking 16k. I don't know whether it worth it or not.

Thanks
