If you want to see my detailed build thread, pls check out this link:
Cabinets: 4.5m of folded horn length in MDF, 1 Meter in height
Its driven by a pair of AMP camp amps, in Bridged Mono (15W / channel)
Drivers: Tang Band - W1772
stunning life size sound.
a bit of throw back in time in terms of presentation. a modern take of being laid back.
Amazing what a modern single driver full range / wide bander can do in this cabinet.
Bass: very good. (pls, dont expect Sub level, I am only talking clean Bass)
But I am getting ideas to install a 8 inch Sub in this cabinet and point them to the floor (downward firing) . one of these days I might try it.
Mid-Range: Pure Magic
Top end: lets just say even the slightest touch on a drum high hat is not just heard, but close my eyes, I can feel it. (Disclaimer: I was not drunk ). but it doesnt hurt the ears. its not at all bright.
What stood out for me was the natural decay of the sound and transitions. its just smooth.
with every hour, this is getting better.
I am beginning to appreciate single ended amps on an old school cabinet design. what I can tell you is so far is that they are a great match..
I got a realization that should have been an obvious one.
Its the location of the speakers in the room, and facing the seating location, it aligns with sloping roof, its almost like an extension of the roof of the horn mouth continuing to expand.
As I move back the sitting position, the sound is getting more body.
Full Range Horn & system build
its been a sometime that I have taken up the courage to build another one after my last system. This will be a 2 channel system including horns, Amps and preamps. My previous set up: incase anyone is interested. https://www.hifivision.com/threads/2-way-speaker-build-with-horns.61352/ Time...
