Well I saw Samsung sibling. That was of about the same price.

This / LG is yet to hit the showroom. In fact Reliance Digital guys were grinning when I asked them about this product.

Review of Samsung :
So called 4K up scaling improves image quality by 5 to max 10%. I used USB drive to decode the up scaling.

I was surprised at pricing as well. LG final price will be around 72-74K after discounts per the Showroom guys.

Also had a look at OLED costing around 400K ( Down from launch price of 900K).

OLED is future for sure as that is about change in fundamentals of delivering a picture to user. Presently at 400K for nearly 50 inch, I assume it should come down to 200K by next year.

Awesome picture quality @OLED

BTW Tata sky is going to lauch 4K services next year. If you have 10K extra to spare on a TV why not..

But will that make u future proof. No for sure!! OLED is here to stay unless failure rates are way too high

Btw which model is that from samsung!

I think, it may take another 2-4years to reach common man for OLEDs, as they are now high in sky and have still to rise up from some technical issues.
Looking at current scenario UHD tvs with low budget seems attractive n worth to go. But I was wondering why didnt they add the 3D in this LG model!? 3D in UHD with Passive would've become FHD 3D!!!

I checked this model today in LG brand showroom in Kothrud, Pune. Their "offer" price was higher than the MRP on LG's website :). There was some problem with the USB pendrive I had taken test pictures in, so couldn't check quality. Plan to do that sometime this week.

Hi all,

I bought this 42UB820T 4kTV in September and I would definitely recommend it to all 4k lovers. I am using local dish connection and the resolution is Good. Youtube videos are played at awesome resolution on this tv. I bought this for Rs. 74,500/-. Got 4 years warranty. Plz ask if you want to know about this TV, I would be happy to reply.

I previously had Samsung 49 inches 3D LED Tv(7500series), which cost me Rs. 1,24,000/- and it's resolution sucks with SD channels. Youtube and Net browsing on it is horrible. And the panel failed in 1-1/2 year itself. Rs. 44000 for new panel it seems. Dumped it and bought LG.

Thanks, for clearing that.
It's bad on lg part as passive 3d on uhd would have been closest to bright flicker free FHD 3d.

^ If it had 3D, I would've gone for it !
Btw, the sibling from samsung (40HU7000) also doesn't have 3D (see the link above in my previous post).

Hi Srikanth..

Thanks for your review on this product.. I hope u r from hyderabad..
If possible could u pls send me ur contact details @[email protected] so i can discuss abt this TV...

Did you compare this with the Sony 42W900B? I am planning for a 42", I had initially narrowed down to Panasonic 42AS670D and Sony 42W900B. But when I checked the same video running on both models side by side, I instantly dropped the 42AS670D. I have not had a chance to do similar compare with LG 42UB820T; was wondering whether anyone has compared this.

I also went with Sony 42W900B , LG had 4k but greyish black, Also I feel that 4k for 42 is an overkill but for 50 and 55 it is fine.

Hi Srikanth,

I have bought the LG 42UB820T. However, SD Channels look bad on it.
Grateful, if you can share picture settings. I am using TATA SKY HD+

Thanks

does the recording option of this TV work?

required Software update for this TV is yet to be released by LG?

HI SRIKANTH

i couldnt record anything...LG service team doesnt know anything about it

can u help me with this..

I have used Samsung and Sony entry level models in 4k.

Sony is the best, Samsung is the next but far behind Sony.

For PS3, Sony 4K triluminious technology is the best for color and motion reproduction.

Samsung extrapolates the color on screen, for example the color of the ground near the cricket pitch is displayed as green instead of brown+green.

Sony and Samsung have HDMI 2.0 so good for connectivity with new devices like PS4

When connected to PC, Sony is the best, mouse movements, replay of 4K, is good. For USB connected movies also, Sony covers 60% of the formats, Samsung covers 40%

When I had tried LG 850, 48 inches in the showroom with PC, I noticed the fonts not good at all. 3D is exaggerated.

LG TVs have 3 pin mains, which means totally safe, I returned Sony and Samsung as both the TVs passed on electric shock, which you can feel when working on a laptop connected to the TV over HDMI (the laptop not connected to the power adapter and TV not wall mounted)

So please wait for a TV from Sony a model after XBR43X830C
