Hi Guys

Starting a thread after a long time - have been extremely caught up with work and relocation to the US - with the process of settling down, the need for visual nirvana drove me to Best Buy, Fry's, Target and online stores including Amazon. With my heart set on the panny p50GT30 pegged at 1360 USD, i was just about to pull the trigger when i cam across this TV LG Infinia 55LW5600 @ 1199 USD.

The specs are as follows:

LG 55LW5600 Televisions - 55" Class 3D capable 1080P 120Hz LED TV with SmartTV (54.6" diagonal) - LG Electronics US

LG Infinia 55LW5600 Review - Flat-panel TVs - CNET Reviews

These are demo pieces or open box pieces - Fry's has sold 70 pieces in the last month - and it was a steal. In fact a total strager ) decided to pull the trigger on this - had come to buy a Samsung series 6 LED

After spending 2 hours on comparing the 3 models - we decided for sheer overall value nothing beat the panny GT30, the LG in fact stole a march on the samsung. Blacks were nice, passive 3D was awesome without a head strain, glasses did not make you look like cyclops - and sheer 55 inches of brilliance. Only glitch was the remotve - sucked bigtime. The pointer device was a hit and a miss. Had wireless adapter supplied with 4 pasisive glasses with the LG smart TV to run Netflix etc. (could not test that). Overall the whites were warmer unlike Samsung, blacks were second to the panny, usability minus the remote was acceptable. (a third party remote should fix that I assume - used the logitech harmony which was better)

Any idea about this TV guys - do not want to give this a miss.

come on guys - 52 views !!! help me out - do i stay with my trusted panasonic plasma new generation gt30 or the led lw5600 is the way to go. In a dark room the panasonic gt30 was unbelievable but in normal conditions the LG was not a distant second. Anybody with any hands-on experience with the LG 5600?

The Cinema 3D models have just been launched in India. So I am not surprised to see the lack of repsonses. Not many may have seen it. Only those who are looking to buy/upgrade their TV would be looking at TVs. Most of the community here favours plasma.

But I believe that there is a thread running on this somewhere.

hands on experience will be difficult to get in this forum since it is only launched now
but plenty of it here

chad b says the tv is fantastic after calibrating one set, more than 1000 post there so you can find plenty actual user experiences
and if your room is bright plasma wont have much advantage,if you prefer watching on relatively dark environment then plasma would be hard to beat

yes i was in the [plasma camp earlier had a Panasonic pv8 that I loaned to my father in law. The GT30 was great but with some ambient light it was difficult to choose between the GT30 and the LW5600. Finally pulled the trigger yesterday on the LG 55 LW 5600 for 1199 USD (cheaper than Amazon) and with taxes in CA - came down to some 1350 USD ~ 62,400 on my india credit card. Not too shabby since the 50 incher gt30 was going for 1368 (+ plus taxes) itself (after price matching with Amazon).

So with its bigger screen size (55 inches) and great picture quality (isf mode from the net) and decent black levels - the first LG LED find its way ot my home. Another 24 hours it reaches me - can wait.

BTW the 3D passive mode actually did not give me a headache unlike the active ones. Just loved watching Shrek 3D demos at the showroom.

congrats, that is a great price for led lcd that size. India i think you have to pay 3 times

Yes. Unfortunately we ordinary folks or lesser among equals have to suffer devices that are under-equipped (if not a generation old), basically overpriced (at the factory cost) and high duties/taxes.

Wow thats a super steal price. Congratulations. Display pieces in US are well maintained and kept in dust free environment.

I gave a search and lowest found was around $1800.

Amazon selling at $2039.

Congrats for the purchase Suprateep. Do post your impressions and pics for enlightening others. :)

yes the 65 pieces left were sold out at Fry's. Last years Panasonic 50VT25 was going for 900 USD. Fry's was a eye-opener - electronics discount store at its best. And they do price matching like no one else - plus there is a price guarantee of 30 days on the purchases.
