LG OLED 65B6 and 65E6 purchase

Don't go for the demo piece as I think OLED panels generally have lesser life but I could very well be wrong also. Read it randomly when I was researching few weeks ago. Go for the C7. Just got my 65C7P delivered today. Wiring management would be done later so excuse that please.

Thanks, Congratulations on your purchase. My only worry with the C7 are the potential issues in a well lit room. Would like your inputs once your sustem is setup.

thats a sweet deal you got, i got the 55B6 a month back for 1.65L, the stock was over at most places in mumbai, for 51k difference you got the C7 seems like a sweet deal, any idea if the B7 is launching?
Nope, no Idea, but it's almost exactly same as the C7, except for some cosmetic changes and sound, so It would be priced similarly.

Just purchased a LG oled e6 on the condition that it is a new piece. On opening for installation it was clear that it was opened before and repacked. It had no film in the front and the film at the back was cling film which looked a bit clumsy. There were no stickers at all which is normally the case with TVs. After I refused to accept it a person from LG called insisting that it was an unused piece and the reason it had been opened was to check if the display was fine, at the showroom (no cracks etc) since it was a "premium" piece. It came from a different city so should I trust him and accept it or could someone shed light on the lack protective film (in the front) stickers. If anyone has taken pictures while unpacking I would appreciate them posting it.

Thank you Shaiju for the prompt reply. I just want to be sure of the front film being there since some of the discussions on other forums (probably US) suggested that there is no front film on the oleds only the back. The unboxing videos (no indian ones) did not mention the protective films hence my dilemma and confusion. So, just to confirm with you, your's did come with a front film right? what about any stickers or other indicators? One more thing, is the manufacturing date given on the box?

Try this to find the usage hours: Hidden Secret Service Menu Codes for Sony, Samsung, LG and Philips TV
Service Menu Code For LG TV:
Press and hold buttons on remote as well as TV panel for a few seconds and the service menu will appear on your TV screen.
"LG_TV_Remote_Service_Code.png"
For some TV models, you might need to press "Menu" buttons on remote and TV panel simultaneously for a few seconds to access the service menu. In a few TV models, both methods work and they open different service menus.
If the service menu asks for a password, enter 0000 (four zero). If 0000 doesn't work for you, try 7777 or 0413 or 8741 or 8743 or 8878.
Now you can make changes to your desired settings.
To save the changes press button on the remote.
BONUS TIPS:
1. With the help of this secret service menu in LG TV, you can enable USB drive use by settings USB option to 1. Once you enable this feature, you can insert any USB drive in USB slot present at the backside of your LG TV and your TV will automatically detect it and you'll be able to play audio or video files present in your USB drive on your TV set. You can also view images present in your USB drive on your TV set.
2. You can also enable Golden Eye feature by settings Eye option to 1 in service menu. This feature automatically adjusts contrast and brightness levels of your TV set according to the lights available in your room.
3. All LG TV come with a secret feature called "Hotel Mode". You can enable this feature by settings Hotel option to 1 using service menu. Once you enable this feature, the Setup or Channel Search option will get disabled in your TV Settings. Thus no other person will be able to scan channels or fine tune channels. That's why this option is called Hotel Mode.

yes my 55B6 has the film in the front & back, even there was a sticker in the front film.

Cheers.

I found the manufacturing date. It says august 2016. Is it more likely to be showroom piece since it's that's old. I understand it was released in India in june2016. What is unnerving is the possibility that they used it with the back film intact which makes it even worse. E

yes, high possibility, where are you located? in mumbai the 55b6 &55e6 stock was almost zero a month back. You can go to tv info in general settings & see the hrs the tv has been put on. Even a factory reset won't reset that i think cause i did a factory reset recently & the panel on hrs remained the the original number. Have a check.

Cheers.

Yes, mine came with film on the front and back.

It is mentioned on the user handout as well to remove the front and back film before usage to avoid damage to panel due to heat. I think you can find instructions on the LG web site as well.

Manufacturing month and year is on the box. My serial number starts with "704" indicating unit from April (04) 2017 (7).

Do not buy old and demo stock unless you are getting at rock bottom price and the panel is free of defects.

Both Front and back films are present on Indian Sets, my C7 had both.
I don't recall seeing any stickers but I could be wrong.
Yes, manufacturing date is mentioned on the box.
As per LG instructions, removal of the front film before starting up the TV is crucial otherwise it may lead to uneven panel heating and damage. You should demand for an unopened piece which would rule out any foul play.

Thanks everyone for the responses.
Just a thought.... is it possible at all the tvs which were manufactured in 2016 did not have the front film? The one I have is from aug'2016. The instructions from LG about removing the front and back film was posted in feb'2017 I think. I wrote to lg India but haven't got a reply yet.
I opened the tv again to check for the front film incase I had missed it. I missed the sticker in the front when the technician opened it yesterday, which I saw today. I'm posting some photos.
P.S. there was definitely no front film.

Depends if you are okay with 2016 TV. That cling film looks suspicious as well. I doubt LG would put such a film on OLED TVs. Maybe I am wrong so members who have 2016 TVs might be more helpful.

I am not okay with the 2016 model but if I have to get another unit from a different dealer I am not sure it could be done before the gst gets implemented which is why i want to be doubly sure before returning it. I prefer the 3d model which seems to be going obsolete in the future. Actually the cling film was what made me even more suspicious :)

I did not want to on it with the cling film on and I didn't remove the film in case I have to return it.
