I purchased LG32LD460 last week. After a long research with the samsung 5 series and Sony BRAVIA EX400 . All these models are good, finally I have to make a choice between SONY and LG. I purchased LG, which have little edge when comparing to SONY. I observe very few details in some of the forums. I am writing my view here based on my one week experience.

1. Different Viewing Angle:
====================
As claimed by LG, I am able to view the TV in any part of the Hall without losing the color. Its really good.

2. USB Combatability:
================
One biggest advantage of this tv is it has the USB compatability. We can able to see the movies, photo, and music with pendrive as well as the external Hard disk. Even Sony BRAVIA EX400 not supporting the external hard disk. Another good thing is if the format is not High definition still the movie plays in the full screen, where as in SONY we able to see in a small size not in the full screen.

It support the common formats .MKV, .MP4 , .AVI apart from .VOB, .DAT movie files. Some more video files are also support, but I tried these formats and its working fine. There is no difference of playing from the USB and playing from the DVD player. The USB feature is really a very good one. I think samsung also able to play these formats, not sure.

Picture Clarity and Audio:
===================
The clarity and sound is good, not a issue.

Apart from this other features like Full HD etc is available, this can be seen in the LG website itself. Any one who is using for few months can add some more information.

Playing the movie through DVD and USB is really good. There is not much difference. Good. Even you can able to connect Home Theater for output the TV sound as well as output the DVD sound to the Home Theater. I am tried this out, seen this information in some post.

Thanks.

I second that opinion about the LG LD 460 & LD550. Checked out the LD 460 in the showrooms but then went for the LD550 as it has 100Hz Trumotion.

SAmsung & Sony dont play all the formats from the USB. Samsung doesnt play .mkv files.

The PQ of LG also is better compared to the Samsung & Sony.

Just waiting for my 32 incher to arrive home...

Thanks for the review.
Hello to everyone at the forum.
Has decided almost, to buy the LG32 LD460 in muscat. Curious to know about the power consumption of this LCD tv. I understand that it has got some energy saving features, but would like to know the exact consumption in Watts.

Thanks
Prasad

Exact consumption in watts is very, very less = insignificant. You will hardly notice any change in electricity bills, provided use of other electric items remains constant.
Energy saving feature works as follows:
Auto: adjusts the backlight according to amount of ambient light in room.
Screen Off: turns the screen off while keeping speakers on. Good for listening to music at night.
Minimum: Energy saving is minimum (75%) i.e. backlight is set at about 60
Medium: Energy saving is 51%, backlight is set at about 33
Maximum: Energy saving is maximum 27% i.e. backlight is set at 0

According to the website, power consumption is 120W at "typical" (which I suppose means at a backlight of about 50)

Hi Shree,

I should have clarified, this was a comparison between the samsung 32 C530 and the LG LD 460 & LD550..

While buying the TV, I went to the show room and play the same movie in SONY and LG and found LG played all the movie irrespective of the resolution of the movie. For example, if the movie resolution is less for example 350 x 400 (less compressed format), it shows that only in 10x10 inches in the screen. There is no Divx HD available in the sony model. More over, Sony supports only with the pen drive not with the external hard drive. Sony support Mpeg-1 and Mpeg-2 but LG and samsung plays Mpeg-4 also. These are the facts I visibly seen in the show room with the help of the sales person. In case any mistake in my view in SONY please let me know.

Yes, the energy saving is very good. Even you can only listen to the music channel by switch of the screen. Rest of the energy saving details is already mention by Mr.shredder in his post.

Ram y didnt u choose ld550 over ld460... any specific reason?
so wanted to know about this as i am thinking of buying the ld550.

Hey what about the non hd signals(like the normal dth signals.)
Are these transmissions too pixelated?

Transmission in India is in not all in HD and so I am worried that the viewing experience would actually degrade if I move to a Full HD or a HD ready TV.
I am considering LD460 for buying.
Any findings here would be very helpful.

Thanks & Regards,
Rishi
