when i began my journey here in this forum i too was on the look out for a micro system..some of the recommendations were for onkyo cs 315 and onkyo cs 515 about which you can read here..http://www.onkyoindia.com/products/liverpool/mini_systems/ls-v501/index-1.html

the price if the models are available should be right up your alley..
Audio System - Compare Audio Systems in India, Read Reviews with Price & Feature Comparison - Page 3

This was one of the options i was closely looking at, there is a yamaha MRC 230 and 330 ..anyone who has used/heard this ?

Mini Systems by Yamaha Electronics, micro component system

Also take a look at NAD mini component systems as they are far superior to Onkyos but at a little higher price.

i will check the NAD out, the review on the NAD espically the NAD C715 DAB all-in-one CD/Amp/FM/DAB radio was not great.. on some of the site like amazon etc...

here is another deal i was looking at ..they say its gbp 440... which is approx Rs 30K... any suggetion on this one..

Q Acoustics - Q Acoustics and NAD

i am not sure i like the sony for audio.... any idea how much the 1010i cost's and do you know of a good cd reciever to go along with it.... mind you it all need to fit into the 20k budget !

Instead of an integrated "system in a box", please consider a standard DVD player (with USB support) paired with the Audioengine A5. Cost-wise, it should approximately fit your budget. The Audioengine A5 are powered speakers so you can connect it directly to your DVD player. It is also highly rated in this forum and elsewhere and will give you far far superior sound in comparison to standard mini/micro systems.

You can read the other threads in this forum for more info on Audioengine A5 and also for DVD player recommendations.

Caveat: I'm making this recommendation not based on personal use but based on my prior research and what I have read on this forum.

P.S. If high volume and big bass is not that much of a concern to you, you can lower your cost further by going for Audioengine A2.

I think that its not wise to judge a product on the basis of reviews alone as different products suite differently to the needs of a person. Also in case of micro systems paring them with the right speakers matter a lot and in Nad's case PSB Book shelves would do wonders to it.

As per your budget & your requirements gave you Sony option(price & A.S.S to match), else go with asliarun's option, BUT whatever you go for, pls have a demo of the set-up 1st, lest you end up buying something you do not like:sad:

if you are open to systems priced lower, My vote goes to Philips MCD 177/98.

I am in love with it. The only grudge i have is that it is a top loading system. Other than that its excellent and priced at 8K. Bought it 3 months back.

The speakers which come with it are just amazing.

Have an audition before you go for costlier brands

cheers

This model is a 2008 model as found it in archived models of philips india website.... wonder if its still available everywhere:rolleyes:
Where did you buy it from?

I love gazing at Micro-Minis. :licklips: ... less fond of hearing their chatter though ... :D

Why dont you look for a JVC RC-EZ31 whose transport you can rip out and use a few years later for a audiophile quality rig?

Cheers

Where did you buy it from?

bought it from soni moni , Irla, mumbai. They had many pieces in stock.
The speakers are full range speakers in wooden cabinet. I was astonished at the sound quality. Actually I had gone there to buy a simple DVD player. Just heard it out of curiosity. Liked it so much that I sold my powered mixer and bought it. I am going to connect the same speakers to Topping when it arrives.

Philips 5.1 HTIB starts from 5.5k. They are giving a stereo sytem at higher price would mean that that they are using better components, thats why less no. of speakers at higher price. It is just 20W RMS per channel but it can go to unbearebly loud levels in my 14X12 room.

The speakers are rear ported. that may be problem if you are planning to wall mount.:)

One odd thing, it runs on 24V 2.7Amp adaptor.I don't know why. I guess it uses a chip amplifier. can someone find it out for me?I tried but could not find it.

It is available on naaptol at 7.5k

i dont think onkyo mini systems have USB ports .........check that out before u buy them ..........yamaha systems was something which i was looking out for ........but as of now they are not available in India .........reviews are good and price is just right ........ frankly good hifi (mini systems) brands are not available at your price point ...........they are slightly expensive and very few of them actually ..........

Marantz - Marantz Europe

Nad - NAD Electronics :: C 715 Compact Music Systems

Cambridge - One integrated CD player & DAB/FM 2.1 receiver system

Denon - Profx - Advanced Audio Solutions

you can probably buy separate components like say .....norge amp and norge nano speakers and a Philips Dvd player with USB port .....this will come under your budget ...

Just today saw it at Croma, priced at 6990. The carton was pretty old - not sure if they have a packed piece!:indifferent14:
