After using Windows for 15+ years, time has come to change the OS. Installing the latest Mac OS X Leopard is much easier now. Checkout the links below which will help you to get it installed.

Also check the attached images of Hackinstosh desktop. In one of the image, you can see that i am running three operating systems simultaneously using VMWare Unify. You can contact me if you need help.

Great going mate , So whats your desktop setup like ? :)

Intel Core i7 870
Gigabyte GA-P55A-UD4P Mobo,
Corsair 8GB 1333 RAM,
Seagate 2TB + WD 1 TB*2 HDD,
BenQ G2411HD 1080p 24" Monitor,
Cooler Master CM 690 Cabinet + Cooler Master 600 Watts PSU.
Zotac Nvidia 9800GT 1 GB Video card.

Great machine and great performance using since 8 months. No issues.

Awesome....Thanks for d links... WIll try out soon.... From where did u download the Snow Leopard image.... please PM the link... as its not allowed to share pirated stuff here on dis forum.....

worst part about hackintosh is that it works mostly with intel processors, no support for amd. the installation process for amd was so complicated i gave it all up and customised my ubuntu. safer way for amd user methinks.

Hi sudhishkv,

I use a Macbook Pro for little over the last 5 years. I started on the OS X Tiger and have now the Snow Leopard. The best thing about the Macs I find is the tightest possible integration between H/W and S/W. Everything works absolutely flawlessly. BTW, the Mac H/W works nicely with a number of Linux distributions too.

Now, are you saying that the Mac OS X works flawlessly with usual PC H/W?

Should I try it with my home PC config as following

AMD Phenom II X4 955 black
Asus M4A88TD V EVO/USB3
Corsair 1333 4GB RAM
Seagate 2x 500 GB HDD
Dell Ultrasharp U2311H monitor
TVS Gold keyboard and mouse
(I have the same cabinet as yours but with Corsair 450 VX power supply)

According to frnd08, with my AMDs, OS X should not work easily. Currently I have the Ubuntu 10.04 LTS and Win 07 as dual boot.

Regards.

a thousand pardons for going off topic....

i installed wine 1.2 to run some windows programs on ubuntu LTS 10.4...the one i wanted most badly worked beautifully without any hitch...
i also downloaded foobar...i can play music through the lap top speakers but somehow cannot make it detect my usb dac....
is there a relatively easier way of making wine detect the usb dac???

OFFTOPIC: you'll have to configure Wine to detect the usb. go to wineconfig from the terminal, or from the gnome menu go to wine configuration, go to Drives and select Add. from there simply locate the path of the drive you want wine to detect. thats it.

off topic:
i tried that too...but i just get this...doesn't show the usb dac..maybe i am missing something???.

I think you mean VMWare Fusion here ....

Anyway people you can not only install Mac OSX on normal PC/Hardware but also can do with AMD processors. But I would suggest using VMWare or Virtual Box for installing OSX (or any OS for that matter) as with VMWare we have virtual machines which act and behave exactly like the original OS. You can do what ever experiment you need to do without any issue as its the virtual OS we are experimenting with, plus you can take snap ins (much like imaging) time to time that saves the current state off your machine, in case you want to revert to earlier settings ....... I have installed Windows Advance Server 2008, Windows Vista, Ubuntu 8.0, SnowLeopard 10.6.6 on my VMWare machine, originally running on Windows 7 ... :)

Unify is one of the feature of the VMWare fusion. But actually i am not a big fan of VMWare. I like the OS running natively with its full potential.
Running VMware on OS X and OS X on VMWare are totally different if you want to use the system for development or some other serious stuff which mac normally used for. If you want to use the mac on its full potential you need to install and run it in 64 bit native mode. And you can setup the dual boot if you want to use windows.
Cheers :)

^^ mmmm well I am not using OSX for any development or something, its just for knowledge and fun, I keep doing all this stuff in my lab thats all, just to get the hang off.... how things are done, probably that is why VMWare works best for me as I can do all sorts of experiments, BTW there was not a single instance where I actually was not able to do any activity on a virtual machine that a fully installed OS can do, so yes if you ask me VMWare is powerful tool and you can very much do everything with an OS installed on it that an independent OS can do ....... :)

actually it was little difficult than that..(may be there is an easier way..)
but this is how i made my foobar2000 detect my usb dac..

first i had to install WineAsio
1.
i fired the terminal and typed
sudo apt-get -y install wine wine-dev libjack0.100.0-dev qjackctl build-essential
hit enter
2. i downloaded wineasio from
http://www.sandgreen.dk/xt2/files/wineasio_0.7.4/wineasio.dll.so
the file got saved by default on the desktop

3. I entered winecfg on the terminal

4. This opened the Wine configuration and i clicked on the audio-tab and checked 'alsa'

5. i copied wineasio.dll.so on the wine/lib/folder

6. then i wrote regsvr32 wineasio.dll
sudo ln -s /usr/lib/libjack-0.100.0.so.0 /usr/lib/libjack.so.0

on the terminal and hit enter..

7. voila the usb dac got detected by wine an d now i can play music on it through foobar2000.....
