LP's pressed in Japan

I also know for sure that some of the Indian pressings are exceptionally good. I understand that it is because lesser number of pressings are made on some of the Indian releases and this is the reason for some good quality Indian pressings. I have some old Cliff Richard Indian pressings of very good quality. I also understand that the quality control at gamaphone Co was verry good

Gramophone co. also had some very good sound engineers. Other thing which I heard from old dealers is that in those days that the co. was so quality conscious that even if there was complaints over some tracks, they would try to replace the entire stock from the market.

Gramaphone Co.of India (EMI) made LPs that were almost always of good-to-great quality in terms of quality of vinyl and consistency of sound. Their only problem was poor packaging, with flimsy cardboard sleeves that cracked open easily.

Polydor's pressings from the early 70s onward were abysmal - thin brittle vinyl, scratchy sound, and also poor packaging.

CBS India, from the early 80s were not much better, because they used Polydor's pressing plant for their titles, although, I believe they insisted on higher standards for quality of vinyl, and also used laminated sleeves that held up a lot better.

received them today, man, they look priceless. everything from the sleeve to LP oozes quality, their gatefold sleeve is as hard as wood and the print, it still smells like new.

will give it a spin over weekend.
