Let me the first on here on HifiVision to congratulate India to be the first in Asia to successfully put a probe on the Mars orbit on their very first attempt. I would say that was quite an achievement which even the Americans and Russians couldn't do. Not to mention, the Indians did it at a fraction of the cost.

Now, I hope someone out there will make a great high end budget Amps and speakers, too......:yahoo::yahoo::yahoo:

thank you Ambio for this thread.

The folks at ISRO have done India and Asia proud ( as our Chinese friends note ;) ) .

It goes to show what government support at the right places and right intention can do. The IIT's / REC's and IIM's are another area of success.

regarding Indian audio....there is Rethm...

maybe Jacob will do some frugal engineering and get a nano saadhana out for sale :D

Mpw, I somehow missed auditioning Rethm during the AV show. Anyway, Cadence and Rethm may not able to bring the price any lower. High end is a weird world where the audio quality is secondary. Firstly, the price must be right for the elite group to look at them. Too cheap...they are not going to get reviewed by the HIFi magazines. Too expensive then you are not going to sell many but they don't intend to sell many, anyway.

If you go really cheap then you must have sufficient volume to make a profit but at the price point you will be facing the already established giants such as Sony, Pioneer and Yamaha. Furthermore, 99% people out there do not care the little extra fidelity. Remember, the fate of Sony's Betamax or even the SACD.

The only company that I can think of bringing down the prices is the Indian owned Spendor provided the Indian support them. Will they? As I see there is some sort obsession for paying extra for a foreign label. Specs wise DNM amplifier at 150watt RMS, looks good but I saw a post earlier where a member was thinking of replacing it with 40watt Marantz amp. All in the name of better sound.

Cheers.

ambio,

i todays world most products have to survive in a very competitive environment.

Entrenched players set the market benchmark and new players have to find a market entry that justifies their selling price for them to succeed.

Its universal and one that companies like Apple have realised very well.

One thing is for sure...... there is water in the pot..... it waits for the smart crow to take it out and relish :)

anyways... i think what was a mangalyaan thread is going else where..:D
