MARANTZ 1504 - pixelled video output

Bought Marantz 1504 a year back from hifimart and it was working very fine till now.
Suddenly video output from tatasky become pixelled. I tried Laptop and that also showed pixelled video output.

Any body have idea what could have went wrong?

It is CBT->AVR(HDMI) -> TV (HDMI).

Hi

Disconnect the HDMI wires....could be simple dust issue, clean both ends including the ports with a soft brush (make up wala) and try again.

Sounds like a bad HDMI cable. Try using another cable.

Why not try connecting the output on another HDMI in the TV?

Try different combinations so that we can figure out what the problem is.

Same HDMI Port when used directly from laptop/tatasky, is giving clear pic.

Also I noticed few days back that doorbell made a fliker on tv screen. Is it possible that avr got some issue because of wiring problem?

Hi,

Try to a factory reset....this will kill existing settings..do this as last resort....review what you will loose before doing it

@ankurjbl - As per your post, HDMI output from AVR is pixelled both on TV and Laptop, but whereas if you connect STB-->TV picture is fine. If this is the issue, then it could be issue with HDMI cable or HDMI output port of AVR. Is your STB dish TV or local cable like Hathway.

I think it is video circuitry issue... What abt audio ? Is it distorted or do you get it clean?

It's the video board - And that is not pixellation but artifacts
Typically caused by either bad solder joints arising due to excessive heat (were you running the AVR in an enclosed space or with limited clearance?) or due to capacitors going awry..

If it's in warranty, get the board replaced..
If not, there are a few ghetto methods to fix if you are feeling up to taking the risk

@elangoas : Audio is fine.
@rajeshg_k123: Doeas not look like hdmi cable issue as i tried two cables .Could be avr hdmi out issue or something else. STB is Tatasky hd .

Service center said that it's the problem with hdmi board . he is ordering another board. Anybody know what could have happened? cause?

If possible , cost of the board ,so that i know they are asking right amount.

Hi,

More or less depending on the model, HDMI boards for denon (a friend had to replace the board) cost was around 5-7k...again it all depends...Google the same, you may get a ebay or aliexpress link which would have the cost in Dollars...

Service center has said that IC has developed issue. New IC cost is 5250 Rs and the board cost 16k.

I have no choice but to get it fixed at 5250Rs
